Moon Boots These are the lightest “boots” I have ever owned. They feel like a high top sneaker was merged with boot characteristics like an aggressive sole but made as light weight as possible. Boots and I go way back. I was privileged as a child to have my choice between boots, sneakers, sandals even if it was just a pair of flip flops and church shoes. Over time I remained a big fan of boots and even relied on them in some critical roles during my life such as pole climbing for a utility company and other occupations that required robust footwear. What’s good: They are light and appear to be reasonably waterproof while allowing some material to breathe. I laced them low as they came out of the package and liked them like that. They could be laced to the top. Not waterproof enough for you? Consider a bit of spray treatment on select parts. What can be easily improved: Arch support but for me that is a bonus. Basically room was left for me to add a light or medium weight insole of my choice, and I’d rather have that than their idea of what is best for my foot. The strings are a lighter weight than I like. I’m considering replacing them with paracord. The eyelets are not brass rings as are common with many boots, but rather a loop style integrated into the shoe. I can’t say how I will like this long term; but I definitely don’t like thin shoe laces that break at the most inopportune times, and I think this style of eyelet will benefit from more surface area. They look a little plain and I liked that. If you don’t; paracord comes in dozens of colors and weave patterns, so if you are into form function and style have at it. The shoes are relaxed and don’t feel like they will have a break in period. Would I wear these around town and the office? Yes. Would I trust them to get me 20 miles up the road in an emergency? Yes If I had to wear “fancy” shoes at work would I put these in a get home bag as a lightweight means to get me home? Yes.

These hiking shoes are pretty comfortable. I love the color and they look great. They are very lightweight and you don't even know you are wearing them. With all that said the only thing that needs improvement is the sole is very flimsy. You can feel all of the little bumps of the tread through your socks! They don't have a rigid sole and when you step on rocks or bumps you can feel them on your foot and is quite uncomfortable when you are on rocky ground. They are waterproof and that is good. They fit a little small so order a half size bigger than you normally wear. I am on the fence weather they are a good value for the money.
