ALthough they are great in concept. These are ankle rollers in a box. The 2" tines are very sturdy and poke in reasonably well. I weigh 210lbs, but the uneven ground is an issue. The times do not all go in at the same rate, and as such, it is very unnerving with every step wondering when I will roll my ankle. The straps are pretty weak and will come lo0se after about 5 minutes of stomping around. I used it in soft soil and I had to re-adjust every few minutes.

Overall, I like these shoe spikes, but if you're considering buying, be aware of a few things... 1. Easy to assemble, but you will need to attach the straps and all the spikes (wrench included). 2. They are awkward to walk in and if you're not careful, there is the potential to twist an ankle or impale yourself. This should not be a surprise if you take even a cursory glance at the provided pictures. Still, there are those out there who will be surprised by this and complain when they get hurt. Slow and steady wins the race. 3. Mine worked best when the ground was moist, but not swampy. I tried in bone dry condition and I struggled to break the surface layer of soil. I weigh 245 lbs. When the ground was damp, the spikes went straight in with no problems. Too wet and you will pull up clumps of soil. All in all, as solid product. My grass is growing nicely about 5 weeks since I used. I do not know to what extent these spikes are to responsible, but I'm pleased with them and will sue them again the fall when I reseed the lawn. ... show more

These are great once you figure out how to use them and adjust the straps properly. Saved me so much time. I used to use a handheld gadget which took forever and hurt my back. I wear a size women 7 1/2 shoe and they fit comfortably, and still big enough for my husband's size 12 shoe.

10 minutes into this has your legs on fire. Be able to balance while your feet are stuck to the ground. Feels like being stuck in a swamp with 10 pounds of mud on each foot. Work well enough when they will stay on your boot. The straps constantly loosen or slip, will likely modify them for more reliable grip since the plate and spikes are great. However, the straps are a very important piece of the equation.
