I was reading the Fruit (of the Loom) reviews and a reviewer mentioned that Gildan might be a better option. I bought the 6 pack of Fruit pocket T-Shirts assorted colors and a 2 pack of Gildan pocket T-Shirts navy blue. Both orders came in the same box. Fruit was in a factory labeled bag like you would buy in a store. Gildan was in an unlabeled plastic bag. Both sets XXL. Many reviewers noted that the Fruit colors were not exactly colorful. I received a light gray, charcoal gray, two dark blue and two black. Fine with me. I prefer a loose fitting T-Shirt. I don't like snug. I compared the sizes by placing a Gildan atop a Fruit. I noted that the Gildan was narrower around the middle than the Fruit. I also noted that the sleeves of the Fruit were shorter than the sleeves of the Gildan. I tried on each shirt. The Gildan was too snug for my liking. The Fruit had a looser fit and was more comfortable. Remember, both are XXL. This may not be an issue for you if you are not as big around the middle as I am. As to the weight of the T-Shirts I couldn't tell the difference, although they were a lighter weight than my old Russell T-Shirts. I took one Fruit and one Gildan and put them in the wash to test for shrinkage, figuring if they were going to shrink, best to get it over with. Setting for the wash was warm, setting for the dry was medium. Both shirts shrunk, but only vertically by about a half inch. They did not shrink around the middle. Fruit was still a loose fit, Gildan snug. After the wash, the Gildan fabric felt a little rough to the touch. That was disturbing. The Fruit's fabric felt soft - very nice. The 6 pack of Fruit cost $19.98 ($3.38 each). The 2 pack of Gildan cost $13.99 ($6.995 each). Neither breaks the bank but, hey, one's gotta love a bargain. I'm not taking points off for the shrinkage. Apparently, all T-Shirts shrink in the wash, unless you can find pre-shrunk T-Shirts that don't. One can only hope they don't keep shrinking after many washings. Fruit gets 5 stars. Gildan gets 4 because of the fit and the rough feel of the fabric post-wash. I'm returning the Gildan and ordering another pack of the Fruit. ... show more

This was a good deal for a package of undershirts. The only regret I have is that I followed the size guide and based on a 44” chest I got the Xl Tall (I wanted Tall so they stayed tucked in) but to be honest I probably could have got the LG Tall. The length is perfect, but the XL sleeve openings are a bit wide and it’s a roomy in the belly. But I plan on wearing these under sweatshirts mostly, maybe a crewneck sweater, and they might shrink after a few washes, so it wasn’t really worth returning after having opened them. This has become my new summer go-to for just hanging around the house. At this price, it's never going to be that one that you hold onto for 15 years until your wife gets tired of seeing it and "accidentally" destroys it or wear to that singles event at the park where you want to look like 1M$. It is the one however, that you wear to Lowe's, mow the lawn, and don't really care if you get some random schmuz all over it or you suddenly can't find it [ask the wife if she has and look for guilty body language]. They are cheap, they do shrink a bit but won't Hulk Hogan on you by accident, and reasonably comfortable. The one suggestion is that like many red things, you'll want to run that one through the washer with other dark colors first, and probably never with the white clothes unless you think pink socks are flattering. Maybe best of all, even when you've moved onto the next set, the old ones have a second life, if not for that painting project you don't want to get all over your new ones, then for cleaning up after the dog, washing the car, or any number of other dad-activities that we don't brag about. I think I still have one of my first ones hanging around as a stain rag. And you won't shed a tear when it finally does come to an end because after spending $5 on it and getting $15 worth of wear and utility, it deserves to go with dignity. ... show more

I brought these for my hubby, and they are nice & soft. Fits like a glove - true to size. Excellent to wear by itself or as an undershirt. Long enough to stay tucked in when wearing a belt but not that long to bother you.

    • Mostly okay, a few stitch ends not tied and one seam came open after first wash.

The material seems fine to me, where I take slight issue is that I washed the shirts before wearing them (of course) and I ended up having to sew one of them because the thread in the armpit came loose or something so there was a small hole in the seam after the wash. I inspected every seam and hem before washing them and while there were some ends that appeared to not tied off or were tied off but too long, I don't believe the one that ended up coming loose was one of those (could be mistaken, though). The shirts have held up pretty well since then, but I guess to be fair I wasn't able to wear them for several months due to a medical issues so I couldn't stand anything touching my neck. Still, I have worn them several times so they've been washed several times and, at least as of right now, they are fine. I do not yet regret buying them (other than the neck issue which made me wish I had gotten v-necks). ... show more
