Great test kit. I gave it 5 stars for easy to use, because it is, but it is not easy to program. The instruction book is very lacking in how to set time/date/etc. It does not explain what some of the numbers are. But We figured it out over time. Other than that, this machine is the most accurate my wife has found and she has had diabetes for over 40 years. Would buy again. ... show more

Delivered next morning as promised. This meter takes very small sample and rarely has errors. The only negative to this meter is cost of test strips($50 per hundred).

    • Great Meter. There are NO LIGHTS!
UPDATE: The model that has the lit up digits and that lights the strip up when you take your blood, is the FreeStyle Lite (It is available on Amazon although I just purchased it at Wa----rt for 18 bucks. This particular model here (that doesn't light anything up) is the FreeStyle Freedom Lite. If you don't need the extra lighting, this may be the better model because the battery lasts significantly longer. ---------------------------------------- I ordered this specific meter because I wanted the model that lights up the digits and lights up the area where the strip touches the blood. Despite another customer answering a customer question to the contrary, this unit is NOT that one! This one turned out to be the exact same model that I have been using for a few years now. I love this meter. It takes the tiniest drop of blood and it appears to be very accurate and consistent. It very closely matches what my doctor measures. My wife's meter is the one that lights up and uses the same strips as this one. I just wish I knew what the model was so I could order it. (It doesn't say on the meter itself and neither does this one.) I am on my second one of this meter since my first one developed a short after about 6 months of use. A new battery would die in about 3 days whether the meter was used or not. I've been on my second meter for a few years. I guess I'll take this third meter and stick it on a shelf as a backup in case my second one gets lost, destroyed, or dies. I am very pleased with my meter. I have been diabetic and testing my blood for about 20 years. I have used a few different brands of meters and this is my favorite brand. ... show more

    • good monitor for the price
Actually this was the monitor suggested to me by my pharmacy. But after getting it, it does the job and it does use a lot less blood then my old monitor. A very small dot of blood is only needed now to get a fairly accurate result. I've taken from both side fingers and was off by 3, not bad. But the kit comes with carry case, just a thin black nylon case. The new abott freestyle clicker for getting blood is more round and doesn't fit the case very well though. i'm sure it's why these kits are a little cheaper as the case fits the older wider rectangular clicker. It comes with 10 medium size needles, but i get the microthin at cvs as it's way more easier on the fingers. It has a battery and the time was only off by 30 minutes which is easy to adjust. Just hold down the memory M button till you see set in large letters. you toggle through the menu by hitting the m button, and you change values with the C button, can hold down for changing time then hit M again to move to the next item. to get out of the settings, just hold down the M button again and it will exit out. So overall a no frills easy to use monitor. And no it doesn't have a backlit screen so no dark night use. It does have a port at the top, but you need a special cable for it to save values to a computer i think. ... show more
