Be aware that this is a short expiration date. There are two bottles, each expires a month after opening. If you are not planning to use immediately, the short expiration date of the package is limiting.

I've been using the Abbott glucose "Freestyle" meter for about 11 years. The same for this fine control solution. Excellent and consistent quality! Keeps for about 90 days after initial use. Highly recommended and an excellent value for the money.

    • This control solution is a cruel joke
We used to have glucometers that could be coded to match the strip in use. I'm guessing they reasoned that was useless since vile to vile the change in your reading was not as great as the inaccuracy of the meters themselves. Example; on the freestyle vile they list low med and high ranges. The low range allows for a 50% error the med and high range allow for a 33% error. Since the control solution has no value printed anywhere, all it tells you is that your meter sort of works. I does NOT allow you to determine if your meter is accurate. A 50% error means that a reading of 120 on your meter could be as far off as a reading of 60. The meters value are not quite that bad but the readout is only a reference. Free style meters have a small difference from strip to strip. But sometimes the difference in a different vial can be quite large. Bottom line. the control solution only tells you your meter is working but does not help the accuracy. ... show more
