  • Very nice!
**new update/edit April 2024 @ bottom** Fits 96-02 4Runners 2WD AND 4WD. **IMPORTANT INFO*** If you jack up your lifted Tacoma or 4Runner and let the suspension droop and your upper control arm CONTACTS THE STRUT - THIS IS THE FIX FOR YOU!!! •EDIT 11/20• Great ride. Looks fantastic on the truck and it has held up to a lot of wheeling trips. Sturdy and has been a great add-on to my truck. Put ~25,000 miles so far and it’s been great with these upper control arms. My truck has Bilstein 5100 front and rear, OME 906 rear coils, when I bought the UCAs I also ordered moog inner and outer tie rods, sway bar links, and energy suspension front and rear sway bar bushings. So far, Had the UCAs on the truck for over a week now, put about 2500 miles on them so far and it’s been a smooth as butter ride from south central TX up to the mountains of NM. Hit some trails with them on the truck as well. During install there’s a few things that could stump you. The airbag sensor on driver side is in the way, disconnect battery and unbolt bracket for airbag sensor, then reconnect the battery is the best way of getting the UCA bolt out. On the ball joint itself, the ball joint stud has a hole for a cotter pin, but supplied in the box will be a Nylon lock nut which means no need to tighten the upper ball joint to factory torque specs. I was told the torque needed for that nylon lock nut was 40 ft/lbs. Had to call to know that information because there was no info to go based off of. UPDATE APRIL 2024*** These upper control arms are fantastic. Can confirm. They have been all over the United States on this truck. I’ve had them through all terrains doing all sorts of crazy things and have never missed a beat. The ball joints after a few years now are still stout as ever. Truck now has close to 350k miles and 100k of those miles has had the freedom offroad upper control arms. Still rides smooth, still drives perfectly straight and if you fix all your front end components at once (don’t forget your wheel bearings boys!) these are an amazing upgrade compared to stock. ... show more

  • Budget over friendly
If you don’t wanna go over board spending money on control arms like ksp icon or total chaos this is a solid option. I have a 2wd with bilstien 5100’s and arb springs with. 1.5 lift I didn’t want to swap the control on bushings so I went with these they’re a great option heavy well built. Main difference between these and a higher end control arm is the ball joint you. Either way can’t go wrong fit well and budget friendly better then then no name brands floating on Amazon ... show more

  • Solid item
Purchased these for my 2000 4runner. It has a 3" lift up front. Install was as expected. The alignment is perfect and the few offroad trips I've taken, these have performed great. The customer service with freedom offroad was great as well. If you have any questions, they answer you immediately. These control arms aren't flashy like all of the others on the market, but they are clean and do what they are supposed to. ... show more

  • Gen 3 4runner Owners Take Notice!
Review for part number FO-T705FU compatible with 1996-2002 4runner. Part installed on 2000 4runner SR5 with 3" lift. I'll cover all bases in this review, but cut straight to the point if your objective is to pull factory alignment specs back into your rig after a 2-4” lift. These arms don't even come close to achieving factory camber and caster as advertised on this product page and on Freedom's official website. First and foremost, the geometry of this Upper Control Arm (UCA) is completely off. The Upper Ball Joint (UBJ) looks to align nearly identical to the OEM UBJ location, except that it's extended too far outward which creates excessive camber when aligned. The culprit seems to be an arm that's too long that wouldn't be visually observed until the part is installed on the vehicle or with very precise measuring against a correctly spec'd part. To achieve the minimum recommended factory camber during alignment (+0.5⁰), you have to max out both Lower Control Arm (LCA) cam bolts to their outward-most position. Since no additional caster was built into this arm, you're sacrificing more caster than you would with an OEM-style UCA because the factory UCA UBJ bore is positioned farther inward as compared to Freedom's. Long story short, at best alignment specs, your rig will most likely be slightly more unstable at highway speeds (not enough positive caster) and your steering will most likely be slightly heavier at lower speeds (too much positive camber) compared to an OEM-style arm. And maybe most importantly, the outer edge of your front tires will most likely wear much quicker if you spend a lot of travel time on paved roads because of the positive camber. I will point out that these two specs aren't as important off-roading at slower speeds. To verify I hadn't gotten duds, I checked with the person who's been running these arms for 2 years who recommended this purchase. His LCA eccentric bolts were maxed outward. After talking with the dealership's mainline front end specialist who did his alignment, he remembered that there was no way of pulling factory caster into range, and camber was at the limit of the manufacturer's recommendation. The only difference between my arm and the other guy's was that mine had a castle nut for the UBJ and his had a nylon nut. I believe these arms were shipped with a nylon nut in the past. If you still want to chance the purchase, first check the other 1 star reviews (something I didn't do until after install because I took a face-to-face recommendation instead). Most 1 star reviews point to this part #FO-T705FU that date back to 2021 with the same issues I encountered. Essentially, I'm under the impression that Freedom seems to be turning a blind eye to customer feedback and failing to quality control the cast at their Taiwan facility. Issues with these arms extend beyond Amazon reviews into 4runner forums. Freedom continues to mislabel their product and sell it as something it's not when this product should be advertised as an arm that only repositions the UBJ to alleviate stress on the LCA bushings and LBJ. And even that's debatable. Either way, I have zero confidence in the company. With that said, I was super excited for this purchase and install. At face value, the parts seem well made with thick tubular arms and clean welds. A beefy UBJ with decent looking bushings. However, I'm under the impression that the other handful of other cheaper UCAs out there for 2-4" lifts are all utilizing the same incorrect cast that result in misalignment based on the reviews I read. Nonetheless, we deserve better from an American company, at this price range, especially during this day and age when expensive parts are mostly free from defect. Freedom should discontinue this part until they go back to the drawing board, or simply stop advertising a product the customer isn't receiving. Side note: this review isn't a reflection of Freedom Off Road parts for other make and model vehicles. There seems to be mostly positive feedback outside the 3rd Gen 4runner community. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Great so far...
I installed this on my Dads 99 Tacoma. Has a toytec lift but needed to replace the stock UPA’s. So far he said runs more secure and eliminated road noise when turning. Stocks made the upa’s rub on the Toytec coilovers. Will update the rating if anything changes.

  • Won’t work with stock lower control arms
Look good , But they will not work with stock lower control arms. These uppers extend out too much and will not allow the tires to be aligned. Had to go back to stock uppers to get tire alignment. So I guess they will look pretty hanging on the wall of the shop for now.
