  • The lenses are very low distortion, which makes wearing them much more comfortable than others.
I had a bad experience with prescription progressive glasses. After paying quite a lot for them, I found them very uncomfortable to wear, because I couldn't get used to the distortion. They made me queasy, even after wearing them every day for a few weeks. I gave up, and stayed with my single strength readers. That was about a year ago. I recently tried a pair of these foster grant "multifocus" readers - what a difference. These lenses are (nearly) distortion free, and the useable area is very wide - unlike the prescription glasses (from warby parker) which had a narrow "corridor" where the image was sharp. These glasses are lightweight, which also makes them physically comfortable as well as optically comfortable. As far as style, I think these are just OK - but fashion is very subjective. The range of frames offered with this feature is not very wide. The build quality is good, but not great. I don't expect these to last more than a year or so. But even with these issues, the lenses more than make up for it. They're just great, functionally speaking - especially in contrast to my expensive prescription glasses. Initially, I ordered the strength that I use for my regular readers. I found that this was not quite strong enough in the multifocus pair. I ordered another pair, a half diopter stronger- and they are perfect. They feel just like my regular readers now. Your mileage may vary. I was so impressed with this "multifocus" concept, I decided to buy a couple of other brands of this type of glasses. The other manufacturers' glasses are less expensive by about $10 - $15. The first pair arrived today. I wore them for a few hours, and they were ok - but they also distorted the lower half of my field of vision a bit. The distortion was significantly less than my prescription glasses, but significantly more than these Foster Grant lenses. I have another pair from another manufacturer arriving in a few days, and I'll update this review if the next pair performs better than these foster grant multifocus glasses. ... show more

  • Best optics quality
Color: Navy Blue/Transparent Magnification Strength: 1.25 x
I've ordered & tried SO many different OTC (Over The Counter) progressive specs, and have found the clarity quality of all Foster Grant progressives, to have the best and WIDEST, horizontal visual clarity for computer & reading without any distortion. I wear them a little low on my face to peek over the top of frame, when walking or focusing at far distances. It's BY FAR, the easiest focusing experience keeping them on my face all day, without any issues. Immediately able to SEE VERY NICELY upon putting them on, without needing any time to adjust to the optics, unlike a new pair of optical prescription progressive glasses, which usually DOES require "time to get used to them". They even beat the quality of the leading optical progressive lenses available, that supposedly have the widest field of view. They're called Varilux. l spent over $200.00 (not including frame), on that Varilux, which ended up being $ thrown out the window because I could never see with them. These "OTC" Foster Grants have been a true blessing, comfortably easy to use, with no hassle or headaches, upon wearing. ***VERY MUCH WORTH THE MONEY*** #BestOpticsWithFosterGrants ... show more

  • does the job
I spend a lot of my workday continually alternating from looking down at a laptop screen (where I need the magnification), then looking across the table (no magnification required) at a client/coworker/boss. The old on-again off-again routine of regular single-strength readers was beyond annoying, so decided to try a progressive reader. I didn't want to shell out big bucks for a prescription pair, so gave these a try. Overall I'm very pleased. They're quite sturdy, without being bulky - they don't look or feel 'cheap'. The arms are spring-loaded so are forgiving when taking them on and off. The progressive lens works quite well for me, to the point I rarely take them off during the work day. For extended periods of reading or computer use I still prefer a regular single-strength reader, but these are now my 'go to' glasses at the office. They do tend to smear and smudge, needs a lot of wiping and cleaning compared to my (significantly more expensive) single-strength pair. As others have mentioned, there is a subtle but noticeable rose-colored tint to these lenses - which doesn't bother me too much and isn't noticeable when actually wearing them. All in all, they're good for the price. I'd even pay a little more for a better lens coating option (hydrophobic / oleophobic). ... show more
