  • Basic vague information.

I really hate leaving a negative review, but this book was extremely lacking. There were almost no actual resources. Maybe it was a weird thing with the Kindle version but there were even times when the title sounded like it would give specific resources or websites or apps.... but there was nothing! I thought maybe I was missing entire sections of the book. I could have googled, "How to start a food truck business" and gotten similar information. Perhaps, if you have no idea what you want to sell or know any basic information about the type of business you want other then that you want to sell things out of a food truck... then maybe this will be helpful. I had just hoped for some more specific information and resources. I wish I could return it. Glad it helped some people at least. ... show more

  • Facts are not straight

throughout this book the author contradicts himself. in one chapter he'll say that starting a food truck is inexpensive, in another he'll say it is expensive. Hell, he contradicted himself within a span of 3 pages. my biggest issue is the tax advice he is giving. It's wrong! I'm a CPA practicing in NJ for over 20 years. He made reference to the VAT and GST system of sales taxes. These systems are based on gross receipts. The problem is VAT and GST is a Canadian and European national form of sales tax. He even went as far as saying NJ has a VAT. THERE IS NO VAT OR GST IN THE U.S. He's mistaking this with a gross receipts franchise tax which is an alternative to income tax. Don't get me wrong. NJ and other states have sales tax, just not a VAT. There is no Input tax credit available in the U.S. The Publisher should remove the book from the shelves, make him do him homework, then re-issue the book ... show more

Finding a truck, securing your niche product, certifications, meeting standards, menus, financing, licenses, permits, Insurance, food supplier costs, equipment, there are food safety laws and regulations and tax requirements etc. and so and son .... It's a big undertaking, so you need to come up with a business plan. Low overhead is a plus. Robert Masks even talks about names, gives food ideas and suggestion to help. With this book you should be able to get the business up an rolling. If profitable it could be your catalyst to a brick and mortar storefront or a second food truck.
