The 2 motors have a good amount of power for a entry level super low budget plane. The 2 engines is what lets you turn the plane left/right (yaw) by varying the thrust of the 2 engines but, there are no ailerons. There's no way to control the pitch (up/down) of the flight path leaving you at the complete mercy of the wind. You have to put all this stickers on yourself and the stickers are not numbered or labeled so you have to keep referring to the picture to try and match it. The stickers don't match the contouring of the styrofoam. I put the stickers on because my kids insisted that it look good but I feel that the stickers mess with the air flow especially the two large stickers that start at the edge of the wings. Besides the lack of ailerons for up-down control, I did not like that there was only one set of lending wheels. These paper clip strength wheels pop off so often I'm surprised it didn't include 3+ sets. Just 1 is unacceptable, especially consider these things cause pennies and it's the cheapest part of the plane. I only selected this particular model because it had easy to swap batteries. You don't have to mess with battery compartments. These slide right in. Is plane flies okay on windless days but, any breeze whatsoever and it is out of control. All you can do is cut the engines and hope it lands close by since you have no way to control the altitude. It should go without saying but I'm going to mention it anyway, there's no GPS on this plane. It does not have a return to home function. So make sure you keep it within line of sight because if it crashes somewhere else you're not going to find it. By the way this is my third plane. The first 2 were lost to 'fly aways'. A fly away is when the wind is stronger than the engine's thrust. The wind overwhelms the control of your plane and it just grabs your plane and takes it far away never to be seen again. Based on how this plane has performed so far, I'd say any wind over rating 1 is going to be dangerous. Yes, rating 1 is the weakest of winds, aka a breeze.

This foam RC plane is a fun toy, but it is not much of an airplane. If you've flown real airplanes and know how they work, before you even attempt to fly this one you'll notice some issues. It doesn't have ailerons or an elevator. All it has is two propellers on the backs of the wings. That presents a major control problem. Because it's made of foam, it's extremely lightweight, which poses a problem I'll get to later. It's also very small and doesn't have much wingspan, and its landing gear is tiny. The landing gear is made of wires that you insert into slots in the bottom of the plane. It doesn't insert very well, doesn't like to stay in, and isn't very stable when it is in. I had to get an exacto knife and carve the rear landing gear's slot bigger because it wasn't big enough for the wire to fit into. The wheels are so small that you can't take off and land on asphalt, because every piece of gravel is a like a giant boulder in front of them. The plane has LED lights on its bottom that have three modes: They strobe when the plane is turned on but senses no remote connection, they blink when the plane senses a remote connection but the propellers aren't running, and they're solid when the propellers are running. Because the landing gear is so small, I started by taking off from my driveway. The plane went into the air, immediately veered left without me pushing the left control, and got stuck in the top of a tree. I had to get a ladder and a limb trimmer and it took both me and my dad to retrieve the plane. Somehow it survived lodging in the tree and the hard fall in the big branch it was stuck in. In the coming days, I took the plane out to an open area to try it. I put it on the ground to take off, but there was too much wind. And here is where the downfall of it being foam comes in. Because it's so lightweight, the wind was causing the whole plane to shake as it sat on the ground. I had to call off the flight due to too much wind. In an actual plane, I would have had no issue taking off, but this thing is tiny, lightweight, and very wind sensitive. I waited until a day when the trees were not moving at all, found an abandoned mall parking lot (this thing needs around a football field of space to fly), and tried to take off from the ground, but gravel kept knocking the landing gear off. Finally, I took to throwing the plane to make it take off, and that works great. Because of the gravel issue, landing is almost always going to be a crash landing, assuming you can even get the plane to come in for a level landing. Because it has no ailerons or elevators, it's not easy to control for a landing. It's also hard to control in the air, and because it's so lightweight, it's at the mercy of every little breeze. Because it's small, when it gets any decent altitude, you often can't tell which direction it's going unless it's directly overhead. It's easier to tell the direction it's going in the late evening because you can see the LEDs to help you understand its orientation. It's difficult to get it to fly level. To do so requires turning the power down a bit, but the wind likes to buffet it around and push it downward. It's easier to keep it in the air if the propellers are going full force, and when they're doing that, it's always climbing. I have to fly it in a way I would never fly a real plane, by constantly climbing and stalling. It's not so bad with a tailwind, but going against the wind doing this, it looks like it's riding waves. Using the left and right buttons on the remote, you can do circles and sometimes even loops, but it loses altitude quick when doing this. It's also easy for it to get away from you if it's flying with a tailwind. I've done a lot of foot chasing of the plane when I've gotten disoriented about what direction it was going. I quickly learned that when it gets far off into the distance it's better to cut the power and put it into a spiral to force it to the ground than to have to keep chasing it hoping to get it turned back toward me. Overall, this thing is a fun toy, but it's hardly a decent RC plane. Pros: - It looks awesome. - It does actually fly. - It's surprisingly durable. It's pretty much impossible to properly land it, so it's always a crash. It's survived countless wild crashes without a blemish on it. - It has LEDs on its bottom half, which greatly helps improve its visibility and helps determine its orientation. However, I wish it also had them on the top half too, in a different color, to further help with determining the crafts orientation. Cons: - It's so lightweight that it's hard to control it with any amount of wind. - The landing gear is tiny, weak, and practically useless. I had to put gaffers tape on it to keep it from falling off. The only thing it's really good for is helping to smooth crash landings. It can be used for takeoffs, but extremely smooth pavement with no gravel or cracks is necessary for that to happen. - The batteries don't last very long. There are 3 included, but the plane burns through them fast. Conclusion: This foam RC airplane is a toy at best, with no true aircraft controls. It's fun to play with, but hard to control. When I ordered it, it was $16.99. At the time of this review, it's $36.99. At $16.99, I feel it to be well worth the money, but not at $36.99. If it had working ailerons and an elevator, I feel it would be worth the current cost. As it is, it's not a true RC airplane. Given it's lack of controls, I see why it's labeled as being for beginners. You're not going to be doing any awesome aerobatics with this thing. It can do basic turns and occasionally a loop, and that's it. I'm removing one star from my rating for the issues with the landing gear, and another for the lack of controls.

I honestly thought this was going to spend most of its life in the ground but it surprised me. The gyro stabilization really helps make flying easier especially if you’ve never flown an RC airplane before. The foam construction is lightweight which also made me feel a little less nervous about beginner mistakes. Having three batteries included was another huge plus because we were able to keep flying instead of waiting on one battery to recharge. This has been a fun outdoor activity and something both kids and adults enjoyed trying. If you’ve been curious about RC airplanes this is a nice beginner friendly option.

This RC plane is a really cool concept and the kids were super excited about it—but the setup and durability took away from the experience a bit. The biggest issue is the instructions. They have you attach the top wings first and then install the wheels underneath, which is honestly backwards. The wheels are very difficult to push into place, and trying to do that after the wings are on risks snapping them (which almost happened to us). Definitely recommend putting the wheels on first, then the wings. The back landing wheels were especially tricky—we weren’t even 100% sure we got them installed correctly since they were bending while trying to fit them in. As for performance, we did get it in the air a few times and it was fun while it lasted. It actually flew better when launched by hand rather than taking off from the ground. Wind is a big factor—don’t even try using this on a windy day. Ours got carried off and the kids had to chase it down, and unfortunately the nose broke during use. A couple other things: * Once assembled, it won’t fit back in the box—so plan storage ahead * Comes with 3 batteries and extra propellers, which is a nice bonus * Instructions mention installing propellers, but ours came already attached * Requires 3 AAA for the controller Overall, it’s a neat toy but very delicate and requires patience. I wouldn’t recommend it for younger kids or anyone who might get frustrated easily. Honestly, not a terrible rc plane for the price you’re paying.
