  • Beginner-friendly, cute, affordable, and easy to modify
Color: Green
I installed these tiles a couple months ago now using a mix of renter-friendly methods I learned online. In case anyone wants to give it a try, I’ll explain my method here, as well as my thoughts on the tiles themselves. My rental home had an outdated, dirty, worn-down peel-and-stick floor in the bathroom that I’ve hated since the day I moved in. I wanted to cover it up without losing my deposit. Enter: these tiles to save my aesthetic sanity! 1. I unboxed the new tiles and allowed them to “acclimate” in the bathroom for several days. I made sure they were exposed to heat, sun, and humidity so they could expand/contract *before* being installed and avoiding lifting or cracking. This is super important! Do not skip this step! 2. I removed all caulk from the existing flooring/plumbing and thoroughly cleaned it all with rubbing alcohol to remove oils. 3. I covered the entire floor with a mix of poster board and painters tape. This will protect the original flooring from any adhesive transfer. 4. I did not like the appearance of the fake grout printed on the outer edge of these tiles, so I decided I wanted to grout them for real to create a more authentic and elevated appearance. I used a guillotine-style paper cutter to remove all the white edging from the new tiles. This was very easy, but a lot of glue transferred onto my cutter blade. I had to really scrub with acetone to remove it afterward. 5. Without removing the paper backing, starting from the middle of the room, I laid out all my tiles so I could visualize the pattern and find out how many I would need to cut. 6. Using tile spacers, I began sticking the tiles directly on top of the poster board/painters tapes underlayment. I used either the guillotine-style paper cutter, wire snips, or even just regular scissors to cut the tiles to fit around my existing plumbing/appliances. This was VERY difficult and time-consuming. There are many methods to it that I won’t bother explaining here, but I would HIGHLY recommend getting an extra pack of tiles to account for mistakes made during this process. 7. I used a hair dryer to heat sections of the tiles and then applied pressure with my body and/or a rolling pin to really adhere the glue. 8. After allowing about a day for the tiles to stick and settle, I came in with a premixed vinyl tile grout. It is apparently (according to the internet) *extremely* important to use specialized vinyl tile grout ONLY because it can flex and expand with the tiles without cracking. (Even when using the proper grout, I found this to still be an issue, but more on that later.) I let the grout cure for the recommended time on the packaging, then scrubbed it clean as directed. The grouting itself was a pain, but the cleanup was a breeze and the tiles did not look hazy afterward. 9. I used a white acrylic paint marker to lighten the grout after it cured. The vinyl tile grout was only available in a sandy color, and I really wanted white, so I figured I would just give this a try. It has held up pretty ok, and it was extremely easy to apply. 10. I recaulked the edges of the flooring and around all plumbing. Now, here are my thoughts on the tiles themselves. Pros: - So far, these tiles seem to be of high-quality for the price point. I have not had any immediate issues with the design peeling off. And they are really beautiful aesthetically, in my opinion. - The texture is nice. They are not super slippery and they don’t feel cheap beneath your feet. They have some traction and grip, though I might not recommend them for people who are at especially high risk of falls. - These tiles are super beginner-friendly. They don’t have any special steps or instructions. They are super easy to cut and modify with simple tools you probably already have on hand. They are symmetrical, so you don’t have to worry too much about what direction you place them. And the busy pattern distracts from any mistakes or imperfections. If you need to remove one, it’s not *too* terrible… the adhesive is strong, but still removable if you act quick. - I do believe these will be renter-friendly, but ONLY because I placed them over a protective barrier. I WOULD NOT recommend using these on a rental without covering your original surface first. Using an underlayment can help increase adhesion anyway, so it’s worthwhile either way. Having a renter-friendly option is a huge plus to me, even with the extra effort and cost of the underlayment. - The tiles are relatively easy to clean. I have not noticed any adverse effects from using my usual cleaners on them. However, they do take some scrubbing to get fully clean- more on that in the cons below. - Personally, I needed tiles that were not very thick since I planned to lay them over existing flooring. These worked beautifully. They have a low profile and do not look awkward or bulky, even by the door. Cons: - The downside of the tiles not being very thick is that they are a pain to grout. In their defense, these tiles are *not* labeled as groutable vinyl, so the method I used was totally experimental. I am *not* using the tiles as instructed. So take this with a grain of salt. You can see in the second-to-last photo that I have experienced some lifting of the tiles and cracking of the grout around the edge of my toilet. Again, this is to be expected when I’m getting experimental, but please keep it in mind if you plan to do something similar to me. - I completely agree with everyone who said the fake white grout edging is WAY too wide. It would have looked completely ridiculous to place them without cutting it off. Of course, you can choose to remove this part like I did, but then you’re losing a lot of material and you have to buy more tiles to cover your space… You can see in the second photo how much surface area is lost by removing the edging. - They smell weird…? Maybe the glue is still curing, but I’ve noticed a chemical adhesive smell on particularly warm, sunny, or humid days. It’s probably not super noticeable to others, but I am very sensitive to smell and it’s been bothering me off and on. It will be interesting to see if this fades over more time, but now that it’s been 2 months, I’m feeling concerned it will be consistent. - The texture on the tiles tends to hold dirt and make them harder to clean. I don’t think this is a huge issue since the pattern hides imperfections, but I can see it bothering other people. The last photo shows how much dirt can get caught in the ridges of the tile. Overall, I would recommend these tiles for an affordable and easy upgrade. Only time will tell how durable they are, and I will update this review if needed. But for now, I’m quite impressed with how beautiful they turned out. Installing them was not as easy or painless as I had hoped, and having a second person to help was a life-saver. But still, I would describe them as beginner-friendly and accessible. And I really just love the color and pattern options! ... show more

  • Pretty design & easy to use
Color: Green
I installed these on top of some wood storage shelves as a finish, & I'm very happy with the result. I think they're pretty- that never hurts, eh? And the smooth texture is what I really needed. Before I attempt any bigger projects like a floor, I was eager to try these on a smaller, & much less intimidating project. I'm happy with the result & know what to expect. ... show more

  • love this brand
Color: Green
This is something I have always wanted to try. We don’t have the budget to make over our bathroom and so for now I don’t want to have an ugly bathroom. So for me peel and stick is the perfect answer. I have a friend who is used this particular brand and so I already know it’s really good quality. So I was excited to grab this. so far, it is really holding up. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The pattern is lovely. It’s very vintage very nice. It was easy to install. You literally just peel and stick. I did put down peel and stick wallpaper first so that removal will be really easy. I actually installed this in my shower as well and I have had no problems. I’m so happy and my bathroom looks absolutely beautiful. ... show more
