  • It Works.
About six months ago I moved into a house with engineered hardwood floors in nearly every room (except bathrooms), including the kitchen. I've always been fond of hardwood floors. I grew up with them, and I can remember spending hours cleaning and waxing them. But this was my first experience with engineered hardwood, which requires no waxing, but which also requires special care, so I wasn't sure what to use other than a micro-fiber dust mop. I started doing some research, and I soon discovered that Bona was recommended by many professionals. I decided to give it a try, and it works. I had been using a Swiffer floor mop, which does a pretty good job itself. Then I bought some Bona microfiber floor cleaning cloths, which can be attached to a Swiffer mop, and I saw the improvement immediately. The floors were much cleaner and nearly free of dust. Some people might prefer the Swiffer throw-away cleaning pads, and I can understand that, but the Bona cloths do a much more thorough job. Having seen how well the Bona microfiber cloths worked, I decided to try the Hardwood Floor-Care System. I was concerned about the early reviews that mentioned the cheap plastic mop handle, but later reviewers were correct to point out that it has now been replaced with an excellent metal mop handle that should be sturdy enough to last a good long time. It's even sturdier than the Swiffer, which I considered a pretty good little mop. The floor cleaner is excellent. It cleans without leaving a residue, and brings the look of engineered hardwood back to near new condition. So far I'm completely satisfied with the Bona system, which includes a very good microfiber dust mop and a cleaning pad as well as the cleaning fluid. If you want to start with just the cloths, as I did, you can use them with a Swiffer mop handle and get excellent results. If, however, you need something to clean your engineered hardwood, on which you are advised never to use water or wax, you can try the Bona cleaner. It works very well and is easy to use. ... show more

  • Worth
All I can say is, WOW. We were struggling with keeping my new bamboo floors clean, especially since they were dark--every fleck of dirt, every streak...just, EVERYTHING showed. And the fact that these floors were in my kitchen meant that we were constantly dripping or dropping things onto this new floor. We tried regular mopping with Murphy's Oil Soap floor cleaner...it streaked. And I hated using water for fear of it getting between the floorboards. We settled on the Swiffer Wet Jet, which worked nicely at first, but after it dried, it streaked also. The Bona does none of the above. It doesn't use water, and it does indeed make the floor look gorgeous. Couple of things: Firstly, comments previously made about it not doing so well on stains is true. If you have big stains or globs to clean up, do a general cleaning first with a regular mop, or get on your hands and knees and get them with a non-scratch scrubby. Once the floor is smooth, then run it once with the Bona. It comes out perfectly. It's amazing! Secondly, I highly recommend the Bona duster and Microfiber cleaning pad for this job. They DO make a difference. I initially tried continuing to use my swiffer and swiffer cloths with the Bona spray, but it was not as effective. I even tried to jury-rig the Bona cloths onto the Swiffer, and it was SO not a good fit that I finally caved and got the Bona mop. The Bona mop unit is basically a giant strip of velcro across the bottom, so all you have to do is slap a duster or cleaning pad onto it, making it extremely easy and time-saving to use and to switch between cleaning pad and duster. In addition, the Velcro holds extremely well. Highly recommended!!! UPDATE 6/17/13: I still highly recommend the Bona cleaning pad and dusting pad, but have found the Bona pole to be flimsy (as others have also reported). I have found a couple of better poles. Both come with a similar type of wide velcro system to fasten the pads to, but the pole is much sturdier. Both also have refillable bottles to put any solution in that you like, so the Bona could go in there (although I've read on both that the solution clogs easily and should be cleaned out each time...sounds like too much hassle to do that...might be better just to leave the solution in the original Bona sprayer!). The first pole I found is the O'Cedar Pro Mist, which I found at Target. The other, the Rubbermaid Reveal, I found online at Target.com. UPDATE 6/3/18: Still in love with Bona, but found the BEST pole out there. The issue with the O’Cedar and the Rubbermaid is that they DO come with the reservoir that I don’t recommend using, for clogging reasons, and they nevertheless add noteworthy weight to the pole. I found THE perfect pole at an Asian market (HMart—there’s probably one near you!) that is styled like the original Bona pole, but is MUCH sturdier. Still has the Velcro strips st the bottom. It’s PERFECT. And it was cheap too, at about $10. See photo attached. ... show more

  • Great Cleaner Cheap Mop
I purchased this product to clean our hardwood floors in the kitchen. The floors show a lot of wear and are constantly in need of cleaning as we are a family of five with three boys under the age of 9. Separately I also purchased the floor refresher and applicator pad. I LOVE the cleaner, the dust pad, and the microfiber cleaning pad. However, the stick on the mop broke before I finished using it the first time. It snapped in half at the plastic connector part as pictured and described in other reviews. The floor looks great but now I have to spend more money to get another mop (HINT: Duck tape did not work). The pads are a little on the small side but great for getting close to the wall. Aside from the mop stick, the products work well. I would suggest buying the cleaner by itself (not in the kit). ... show more

  • Best Money I've Spent on Cleaning Products in Past 10 years
And I'm not even exaggerating. This is the best wood floor care system I have ever used. The handle is a little flimsy, but everything else about it is wonderful. I have tried swiffer products in the past and the results with both the wet and the dry swiffer were hugely disappointing and wasteful. With the Bona, it's just as easy to use as swiffer and I just simply throw the pads into the laundry when I'm done and voila - like new! The spray cleaner is absolutely the best wood cleaner I have found (and I am a HUGE Murphy Oil Soap fan). Bona cleaner makes the wood floors shine almost like new and in a way Murphy's never could. Also, I have 3 cats and vacuuming can be exhausting, so on the days when I'm overly tired all I have to do is push this around with the soft dry pad and it does a fantastic job at picking up all the hair without the hassle and noise of the vacuum. This is a great product and I recommend this for anybody with wood floors. ... show more
