I really want to like these shelves, but there are lots of quality issues that have to be overlooked in my case. First, out of the box I noticed that the stain or sealant was not yet dry. Not a huge deal. I just cracked the box open and gave it some time to dry. Second, after unboxing I noticed a larger crack on one of the shelves. Maybe this was intentional to give it more rustic character? Third, the directions say to mount the mounting hardware 16" apart on the wall. Unfortunately, the mounting holes on the shelves were drilled 15 7/8" apart. If I didn't double check this and just followed directions, then the installation would have failed. Fourth, both shelves are pretty warped. They both have a significant cup and a slight twist. Maybe this is supposed to enhance the rustic charm, but just looks cheap. Fifth, about half of the hollow wall anchors split during installation. This seems like a common problem. However, they are thread the same direction as the mounting screws, so you can just torque down the screws to get the anchors flush with the wall. Not ideal, but fixable I don't want to return these, because they are already installed. Instead I'll just overlook the flaws. Do yourself a favor and look for a different product. ... show more

Absolutely love these rustic shelves! The grain on the boards look great and they even have a nice smell. All the hardware is included and the holes for the brackets are predrilled. Will be buying another set for my bathroom.

I read so many bad reviews before installing these that I literally almost returned these without even taking them out of the box. In the end, i used my better judgement and took a stab at these and I am not in the least bit disappointed. These shelves are real wood. They will have minor flaws and imperfections because no slab of wood is perfect. As another reviewer said, if you need ‘perfect looking’ manufactured shelves that look identical, go to ikea. Several others complained about the shelf not sitting flush against the wall. It’s true, the brackets cause a minor gap. As long as you’re not planning to place your ear against the wall to view the “horrendous gap” every day, you’ll be fine. It’s hardly noticeable. Mine are very sturdy on the wall and the mounting guide was super helpful. Before screwing the anchors in, make sure you check for a stud first. I was lucky enough that four of mine hit studs so I only had to use 4 anchors. They do make big holes in the wall. Make your mark, use your level, and put your back into it. Dont bother. The included hardware disintegrates. The ends of the boards aren't stained the same as the other surfaces and are not finished/sanded. The boards have no recess for the brackets so the bracket is always visible and the shelf cant sit flush against the wall. Some of the wood grain was nice but that's the only redeeming quality here. ... show more

I've searched long and hard for a good floating shelf. I didn't even think I could get real wood for the price pint I was looking at. Shelfs like these on Etsy are around $80 EACH! You get two for less than that. They are great quality and I didn't have any issues with mine. The only thing to be aware of is because it's real wood, the two pieces you get will be slightly different. Some have knots, some have a little bit of a live edge, and color varies a little (I know because I ordered two sets and each shelf was a little different). So if you are here for the natural look it works great. Plus once you put them on the wall they will basically look the same anyway. If you want something on the heavy side, you will have to have a stud. We didn't have any studs in that spot but the stuff I put up there is holding just fine. Love them! ... show more

Just installed these and can tell there's already an improvement in the atmosphere! I love the clean but rustic look of the shelves. The wood even smells nice! If you're looking for decor to spice up your room with a feel of the past, I'd definitely recommend this. Easy to follow installation.
