I have searched and looked at sooooo many floating shelves online and thought this would be another product I may need to return. I was skeptical like most people who look at the worst reviews when considering a product. Yes, it isn't made of wood, but it clearly states "wooden" and "engineered wood" in the description, so that didn't sway me from considering it. Note, it does look like real wood with the wood grains and it is light weight making it easy to install by one person. I purchased 3 boxes of white 36" shelves, which had 2 shelves in each box (6 shelves total). I know some said that the shelves arrived damaged, but I loved the packaging (especially after the delivery person threw it about a foot or more from the ground when he was helping to get the packages into my house). None of the shelves were damaged. It is packaged very well and included a cute thank you note for customers. I order a lot of things online and I don't normally get a note, so it was unexpected. Instructions were clear and very simple (although the shelf image of the holes were incorrect when compared to the actual bracket received). I just ignored the hole image in the instructions and followed the instructions. I didn't go the route of drywall anchors for 2 of the shelves since I was lucky to leverage wall studs. I only used two screws into the studs instead of the many screws they say to use. The expected load on these shelves will be minimal so I felt safe with 2 screws when I say the sturdiness of the bracket after installation. Hey, if you are expecting to place a significant load on the shelves, then use the anchors or buy better anchors to ensure strength, but for most people the provided anchors should be enough. Another reason I didn't go with anchors was just in case the anchors put a little more space/gap between the wall and the shelf. I was concerned about the flimsiness and load support some complained about, so I made sure the bracket was installed well onto the wall with the screws provided. The one issue I do have is that the two metal bars that slide into the shelves are a little flimsy so there is a little play when the shelves are installed (not because of the wall bracket). I can see why some complained that the shelf tilts downwards at the front edge a bit due to the slightly flimsy metal rods. I am not putting a significant load (like dishes ) or else I would have used the anchors or replaced the anchors with toggle bolts for added weight support. Again, these things may add space/gap between the wall and the shelf. Would it have been great if the shelf support rods were sturdier... Yes, but.... they are great as they are for me and probably most people who will put light loads on them. The shelves are great looking, easy to install, support the load I expected and the price was perfect for me since I was getting two of them. I saw equally bad reviews on more expensive shelves and I didn't want to get bad quality with additional cost. I took a chance on these shelves and I was pleasantly surprise on how great they are. I gave it 5 stars because of their nice look and easy installation. What I wish they would improve on would be the support rods to ensure it supports more loads without dipping downwards and also provide coverup stickers for the screw hole at the bottom of the shelf. ... show more

I took one star off because these are not the exact length they say. The 16 inch shelves are a fraction of an inch too short and the 36 inch shelves are a half an inch short. Shorter length wouldn't normally be an issue but I am mounting these on the wall as a full wall entertainment system with a tv mounted in the middle and shelves surrounding. I made an entire graph with multiple 36 inch and 16 inch shelves in a puzzle of madness so that there can be wall to wall storage with a tv in the middle and no gaps between the shelves. With multiple 36 inch shelves that are .5 inches shorter that reduced my over all width and space around the TV. Otherwise, these are very easy to install. They come with wall anchors that screw in rather than needing to be hammered in. You just pre-drill pilot holes, screw the wall anchors in, and then screw the bracket on. The there are tiny holes to screw the shelf to the bracket on the bottom. It comes with a little level that sits on the bracket nicely so you can circle where to mark the pilot holes and they will all be level. Some of the shelves I installed do not wiggle at all and others wiggle a little (as in you can lift them up). The way the sit when weight is put on them is level though so I do not anticipate that being an issue. After a few weeks/ months of use I will update with how they are fairing/ if any fall down. ... show more

This shelf was purchased to complete a TV stand project I put together. I found some cubes that were the right size I'd been looking for (Fits LP's) but I needed a good shelf board to span the end cubes and open area where I'd put the video equipment (VCR!). The cubes had a rustic brown color and I happen to find this floating shelf that in the listing picture seemed to be the right color I was looking for. After much scrutiny and deliberation I made the purchase (shelf + cubes). The cubes were a rustic brown color and this shelf was supposed to be as well. My items came and the day I started this little project I was excited to see the results. I assembled the 6 cubes (that was a snap) and set them in place. Then I unboxed the floating shelf and placed it on the cubes. I stood back and....WOW! What a match. Couldn't have been any more perfect. The fit was perfect as was the color. It's like these items were meant to be bought and used together. This is a floating shelf, meant to be mounted on a wall but I didn't need that hardware. I just put a small screw into the back to keep the hardware with the shelf. It came with all the necessary hardware you'd need to use it, as sold. It even came with a small leveling device. Nice touch. But, I am delighted the shelf matches the cubes so well in color and is a solid part of the setup. It is rated for 75 lbs. My TV does not weigh that much. I cut some small squares of rubber matting to set under the shelf so nothing slides. The manufacturer packaged the product very well. No damage in transit. So, whether you use this shelf as intended or for a custom project, it should work great. I can't comment on the ease or results of mounting the shelf on a wall as I did not use it for that purpose. I'm sure it would turn out well though. I bought this shelf on Cyber Monday Prime day so I got a good deal. However, even at the normal price, it's worth it. Shelves arrive on time and in good condition. Upon installation, I found them easy to install, and well supported. I'm using them as cat shelves, so they do not have to hold much weight. First, I absolutely love how these shelves look. I was looking for a very specific shelf for my growing indoor plant collection, and these fit my needs. As another person mentioned, these are great if you're not going to put anything heavy on them, but in my view, they defeat the purpose of a large shelf with a 70 lb weight limit. I installed these shelves several weeks ago, but they haven't seemed sturdy. I chose to ignore it in the moment, but found that even placing my hand on them (not full pressure) while adding and moving around my plants moved the shelves. I've mainly kept small plants on them and placed them on the back half of the shelf, where there seems to be more support, but I don't think they can handle much more weight. Unfortunately, part of the reason I chose these shelves was for the 70lb weight limit. Currently, they are holding less than 10lbs and don't feel secure. A few nights ago, I removed the shelves to see if I could address the problem, but upon comparing the brackets to the instruction manual, it appears they may have been made upside down. The Assembly Instructions show the middle hole at the top and two lower holes on each side. Then, the two rubber stoppers are placed at the bottom of each pipe. I've attached two images of the Assembly Instructions that show this. As shown in the attached bracket image, to position the rubber stoppers at the bottom, the brackets are reversed relative to the instruction manual, with the middle hole at the bottom. This is the direction that there is both a sticker and an engraving showing the direction "Up." I'm not sure whether the brackets were made incorrectly or the Assembly Instructions are incorrect. I also don't know how much difference it would make if the center hole were on the top versus the bottom, but I would think it would be better on the top. I wonder whether part of the problem is that the support pipe only extends about 5 inches for a 12-inch-deep shelf. I tried to contact the seller directly, but their customer support link returned a "page removed" error. I then contacted the seller through Amazon's product support to request clarification and, if the brackets were made incorrectly, a replacement. I really like the shelves and wasn't looking to return them. However, I did not receive a response from the seller within the timeframe Amazon stated was required, and when I called Amazon's customer support, they attempted to contact the seller, who was unresponsive. Amazon has now processed a return and suggested that I should not order from this seller again. I'm disappointed not to have heard back from the seller. I would have loved to keep these shelves if I knew they could handle more weight and that the brackets were made correctly. ... show more
