I am not a handyman. Usually if I start any kind of project, my wife leaves the house until I'm finished. I decided in December I was going to put shelving up in the garage. I bought 2 sets of the product and they set in the boxes until February. I really wasn't confident, but I had determination. Anytime I read it is easy to assemble I factor in it isn't going to be easy for me. I won't go into detail on the extra holes I managed to create in the garage, but I have boxes on the shelves that hide them. I didn't discover why the company has a template with leveler for the holes until I was almost finished installing the second set. No one said I was bright. Anyway I got the project finished and just order another set. YES, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!! USE THE TEMPLATE, it will most definitely make the installation a whole lot easier. ... show more

12-foot single shelf on 16-inch center studs is a nightmare to configure This is a well made and sturdy product, the reason I'm knocking it down several stars is the complete lack of design competence for configuring it as a single, 12-foot long shelf mounted on studs that are 16-inches on center. The product literature states this is possible but the included instructions fail to show how difficult it is to have load-bearing symmetry with this configuration given the parts of the kit. The template and level is handy for marking out the locations, once you figure them out, which took me a couple hours of trial and error on scale grid paper to flush out adequately. True symmetry is impossible as equipped, the closest I can come is to skip the 2nd and 9th studs over a 12-foot length, so that the two end 3-foot wide wire shelf sections have supports near the very outside edges. So you have 1 bracket on the first stud, skip the next stud, and then mount 6 brackets in a row on each stud, then skip another stud, then attach to the final stud. The outer 2 3-foot shelf sections will have to be mounted so that the brackets face towards the middle, then the center two sections can have the brackets face outward on the right and left side. Heavy objects need to be avoided in the larger gaps between supports. I would consider buying again, but I bet the 4/8 foot models would be a better fit for 16-inch stud installation. ... show more

These things are awesome!! I got the 2'x4' model and am able to get three sets of plastic totes on each shelf. They look good and are very sturdy. I initially intended to order the ceiling mount shelves, but then realized I was going to be doing them against a wall anyways. I am so glad I got these - they are the exact depth I need (2 feet) to be able to fit plastic totes on them. The ceiling mount shelves would have been a huge hassle to install on my vaulted ceiling and these hold 200 lbs each anyways. I was able to install one shelf by myself, but it was a little difficult so I was glad to have a second set of hands for the second one.These came with a mounting template which made drilling the holes super easy and it also came with a tiny level. I used a 48" level to be super sure, but I thought it was a nice touch that it came with one. The only weird thing about these is that without weight on them, the shelves would pop up a little bit from the mounting brackets. Fleximount has considered this problem and sends velcro ties to hold the shelves securely in place/flat even with no weight on them. One of the eight velcro ties I have installed so far broke at the clasp. I was able to use it anyways by just flipping it over onto itself, but I was pretty surprised when the clasp snapped off! Also, ordered these direct from Fleximount and was concerned about how long it would take since it wasn't Prime shipping. That was misguided; I ordered them on a Friday and they arrived the following Monday!! ... show more

I LOVE this product! I ordered one and was so happy with it that I decided to order a second one so I could wrap it around the garage. What’s great about this product is the low profile bracket. I’m around 6ft tall and I’m still able to walk underneath it while also having enough room above to store large boxes and containers. This is great because it allows me to walk against the wall of the garage without bending over to get in my car. The product is also extremely well made and very sturdy. One recommendation I would give is to take your time installing this product, especially if you plan to install it as I did and to make one long continuous shelf. It will take a lot of time and precision to get the shelves to line up perfectly, but once it’s completed you’ll be extremely happy. Good luck! ... show more

This would be a 5-star review except for an obvious afterthought design flaw: using cheap black velcro to tie down the shelves. For the most part, you don't really need the velcro to hold them down, especially if you're evenly distributing your stuff. But you'd think Fleximounts would provide some simple plastic/metal clip that matched the color of my shelves (white). I'd use clear/white zip ties instead. Considerations that might be of value to you (see photos): - These are very sturdy. I feel like their stated weight rating is lower than actual capacity. - These are easy to install, it just takes time if you're making a long row like I did. - These accommodate varying stud widths and the shelves can be placed almost anywhere along the brackets. You can see from my photo that I had to adjust. - A laser level would have been easier than my bubble level. The paper template that is included is helpful, but always triple check your measurements / drill holes. - I installed in studs, definitely need studs. - When installed, the TOP of the shelf to the BOTTOM of the bracket against the wall is ~6 7/8". Which is actually quite a bit of space if you have stuff below, especially with brackets at every stud. ... show more
