  • Definitely designed for Mountain Biking.
Size: 11.5 Color: Core Black/Cloud White/Cloud White
These shoes surprised me. I measured my foot using a tape measure from my heel to my longest toe. 11.5 is my size. I ordered the 11.5 assuming no issues. When I first put them on, they felt very off. Such as the shoe felt very stiff. I attribute this to their impact resistant material. Further, it felt very tight, especially on the sides (I have large/wide feet). And there was a lump-like feeling when just standing and walking with them. I was beginning to regret my purchase, but this is why I will absolutely not return it and instead loved it 10× more than I could of thought initially. Here is what I did: 1) I immediately loosened the laces. -That fixed the tightness a bit. The shoe felt very "snug". But not completely comfortable yet... 2) I forced myself to wear the shoe for 1 to 2 days, and then a bike ride or two. -This fixed the following: •Tightness was gone, it felt comfortable and it definitely widened according to my foot size. •The stiffness was not as noticeable as well. I attribute this to the shoe widening a bit to my foot. •Lump was not noticeable either, so I assume my body weight, down pressure, and wearing it for 1 to 2 days definitely helped bring the feeling of a lump down. After those negatives were taken care of, i must say the shoe looks legit. It definitely protects your toes and the sides of your feet. And the grip, my goodness, the grip is perfect for those who ride with clipless pedals or just want more grip when sending it downhill. The shoe gave me confidence when coming down rock gardens, loose dirt, ruts from rain, stumps, and jumps. This shoe does add to your mountain biking ability because of how well it performs under those conditions. If you want a shoe that wont slip while riding. This is it. It is expensive, but i rather feel secure riding than slip and potentially go over the bars or get into an accident. Also, it does help a lot on those long climbs. And it doesn't feel uncomfortable anymore. Worth spending the money IMO. Before you give up on them, try a size up too. It takes sometime for sure, just to get used to this shoe. But the benefits are worth it. ... show more

  • These fit great and look cool.
Size: 13 Color: Grey Five/Cloud White/Halo Blue
I had ordered some Ride Concepts shoes but they were too narrow. I wear a size 13. Previously I had the regular freeriders. The pro has a harder toebox that has already saved my toes twice. Very happy with this shoe. I have about 20 rides on them so far.

  • Fit is a half size bigger than the usual
Size: 12 Color: Core Black/Cloud White/Cloud White
Its my 2nd FIve ten shoe, the first one being the sleuth - which was known to be sized big. I had apprehension on ordering this but since everyone said fit was as expected, i ordered my usual size 12. Fit was a half size bigger, but its not a deal breaker. Over all, I love the shoes.

  • My husband loves these shoes!
Size: 8.5 Color: Core Black/Cloud White/Cloud White
My husband ordered these for biking and he says they are very comfortable and the purposeful lack of cushion makes riding more comfortable than a regular sneaker.

  • Really great looking shoe!
Size: 12.5 Color: Black/Black/White
I like the fact it has stiff soles. I have not tried them on a bike riding trip but the shoes fit well. I up sized a 1/2 size because I wear a really width. The shoes seem to fit well. So far I am pleased with the purchase.

  • Freerider Pro better than Freerider
This shoe works really well for me except it is a bit too grippy as it is somewhat difficult to adjust my foot placement on the pedal (I'm going to screw the pedal posts down a millimeter or so to see if this helps). Previously, I wore the Five-Ten Freerider (not Pro), and it was easier to adjust foot placement. But the Freerider Pro compared to the Freerider is a much better shoe with higher quality and more durable material and better construction. The upper part of the Pro version is better: (1) because there is a tough rubber strip surrounding the toes (and heel, too) which is great for foot strikes, (2) the material covering the top of the foot, a slightly softer, but still firm rubber compared to the tough toe rubber, has a pattern of holes for releasing moisture, and (3) the lace-tongue construction holds the tongue in place much better on the Pro version compared to the Freerider which constantly has the tongue slipping down to the side. Beneath the rubber exterior is a layer of soft material for added insulation and comfort. In comparison, the Freerider exterior material is a soft cloth material and not protective at all, which my right foot discovered the hard way last year when I bashed my foot against a tree stump. I limped around for 3 weeks with a sore toe. With the Pro version's durable exterior, I would have ridden away uninjured and pain-free. The interior of the shoe is well padded all the way around, and below the shoe insert is a medium firm white rubber compound for an extra bit of support, cushioning, and comfort. The Freerider Pro is definitely a stiffer shoe than the Freerider, but it still does have some flex to it. The one thing, however, about the rubber layer is it does trap some moisture (despite the holes on top), and since the trails I ride have a lot of sandstone, I get a bit of sand creeping in beneath the insert and sticking to the rubber pad. So after each ride, I remove the inserts, wait for things to dry out for an hour, and dump out the sand particles -- not ideal but not a deal-breaker, either. Obviously, in the summer heat, your shoes are going to collect some moisture, but overall I would say that this shoe breathes pretty well and hasn't been too hot. I suspect that on cold winter rides that it will be better insulated than the Freeriders which didn't do well under 20 degrees Fahrenheit. In conclusion, I would describe the Freerider Pro as a high quality shoe with excellent materials and construction and very high grip. I'm giving it 5 stars despite the shoe being overly grippy because in the end having your shoes stay on the peddles is critically important to controlling a mountain bike; more so than slight adjustments to foot placement. ... show more

  • Sizes are not what you might expect
Size: 10.5 Color: Core Black/Cloud White/Cloud White
The shoes are great for flat pedal MTB. The problem is their US to Euro sizing is not typical (from my experience) so you might have to order several sizes to get a pair that fit you properly. Specifically, their 10.5 is 44 -2/3 and their 11s are 45-1/3. All my other cycling shoes are 45 for 11 and 44.5 for 10.5. It doesn't really matter functionally except that those extra, or missing, 1/3 EU sizes might make them not fit you well. I usually wear, and first bought, 44.5 (10.5) but they were just a hair too tight so I had to buy the 11's which were just a tad too loose. I ended up keeping the 11's as when the summer heat picks up I know I'll be glad for the tiny bit of extra room. ... show more
