  • The product is still good but I was hoping for the resealable container
They show the plastic bucket with a lid, but they sent a plastic bagful with printed instructions. The product is still good but I was hoping for the resealable container.

  • Works as promised
Seems to do the trick - but still don't put glass straight onto microwave kiln shelf... it just gets stuck.

  • Just... Don't. I've applied kiln wash. This DESTROYED the floor of my NEW microwave kiln!
So, as an art teacher of 22 years, I'm well aware of how important proper application of kiln wash is to ensure that your fired (or microwaved) pieces don't stick to kiln shelves or, in this case, the floor of my brand new larger microwave glass fusing kiln. Being more comfortable with a thicker layer of kiln wash, rather than the thin, watery layer that other reviewers have complained about the directions recommending, I applied a generous coat of wash, ensuring that I covered every bit of the horizontal surface as well as the edges of the raised area, and left the base to dry, uncovered and open to the air, overnight. Next day, I set up my layers of clear, dichroic, and opal glass for the pendant that I was hoping to make. Followed the same steps I've followed countless times before when fusing my pieces, watched the kiln constantly as it rotated on my microwave turntable, looking for the telltale fusing glow. Saw it, checked to find that the glass had just started glowing, turned on microwave for another minute or so, checked again, saw that it was just starting to melt and fuse, put it back in for another minute, checked again, saw that the glass had just fused and edges were starting to pool, pulled kiln out and put it on cooling rack to rest. A few hours later, I opened it up to see that the glass was cold to the touch, and finished. Tried lifting... errr, lifting... ugghh... lifting... Seriously? Prying it up with a butter knife when it just wouldn't give, and off popped my piece... with a generous chunk of the base still attached. Used said butter knife to scrape away kiln floor chunk from fused glass, and here I am. I had JUST opened up my new kiln. Was literally waiting for it to arrive to start fusing again, and this is what I got, thanks to this crap wash. Never again. If I could, I'd charge Fireworks the cost to replace my BRAND NEW kiln, since their product, and my trust that they'd offer up what was promised - kiln base protection - ended up RUINING my brand new kiln. You truly do get what you pay for... and sometimes it ruins what you've already paid six times as much for. Shell out for the pricey kiln paper, unless you wanna be stuck trying to figure out how to patch up your glass fusing kiln. Horrible product. Never again. ... show more

  • Perfect for our pottery studio
Easy to mix, and works great on our kiln shelves. Highly recommended!

  • Works well - needs 4-5 coats
Glass comes out easily from the molds I coat with this

  • Not liquid
I specifically bought this because I have never done a glaze firing on my own. I wanted to ensure that the kiln wash was the correct consistency, so I ordered this since it stated liquid in the product description. It is actually powder that you mix. Product not as described.
