I bought this tablet in November of 2021. I have not had any issues with it. It's great for streaming shows on Paramount, Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, Etc. The worry free two year insurance is amazing. I haven't had any damage to this tablet but, I figure it's just like my other fire kids tablet that broke not too long ago and was replaced for free. You do have to keep the case on . I've recommended it to people . It would be amazing if it had Data capabilities and not just Wifi. I hope the new model will have it. My daughters bird was watching a show(picture).

Overall a good tablet. Full disclosure got this for my niece and she loves it. Her parents aren’t big on screens but they wanted something to use when my niece is cooling down, or she wants to watch something and her baby brother is napping, or simply car rides. Amazon kids offers great services however we haven’t been able to take advantage of most of them. It’s really good at tailoring recommendations for kids, filtering age appropriate content, and parental controls (screen time, communication access, even to distinguishing between [gaming, reading, learning, video]). Some things took a while to configure and sync but it wasn’t annoying. I didn’t notice a lag, it’s very durable, in full disclosure I think it’s just a normal fire tablet but with a good protective case and a replaceable warranty thrown in cause you know kids. Although my niece doesn’t use most of the thing offered by Amazon kids and mainly just accesses the internet to view Ms Rachel occasionally via YouTube kids, I did browse and there’s a good selection of age appropriate catered books, audible, games, apps, and it recommends videos, movies, and shows. Only con is well if you’re an anti tech parent well obviously don’t get one honestly only downside, but to be fair my niece hasn’t become some obsessed tablet kid and still prefers to run around and be a kid. Most of the time she forgets it exist and if she ever does get her moments, we just pause screen time or wait till screen time is over and then we just say tablet went to sleep and is tired and it’s just forgotten. The charger not the fastest which I guess isn’t important cause you most like will just charge overnight and have noticed that a full charge will last the day for the max allocated screen usage time. Also I will note that it does differentiate between usage time and allowed time, and you can also change allow time to category (screen time, reading, game, learning) . So you can do 6hr screen time , with the child allowed to used the tablet from 9am-7pm , and you can also break up those 6h to 2 screen, 1 reading, 3 game, etc. Also internet usage can be as restrictive or open as you want but because my niece is still young she only has access to pbs kids and YouTube kids via browser. Definitely recommend.

Bought the Kids version, 10” Fire tablet, $140 **1 star for child friendly case integration, design and ease of use. Appreciated the stylus storage (stylus not included, I bought the 2 pk), cleverly housed under the carrying handle and my 3 yr old was able to manage independently- the ONE time he used it. **1 star for ease of set up, straight out of the box, after charging, of course and battery didn’t seem to drain like the 8” model I’ve had for awhile. Of course, I’m not sure how accurate this statement is, because I can’t say if, over a years time, the battery is still performing, as I returned right away. This is where I point out the first charge was all I EVER managed; it wouldn’t charge again after the first day. Interesting error message: Water detected in the charging port. My preK 3 toddler never had the tablet around water. I control the environment and screen time, and I was present for those 15 minutes. Imagine his sadness when I told him I was returning it because it wouldn’t charge. At this point, my only thought was- this will an easy exchange, and I hoped they’d have the teal color in stock. The teal color is gender neutral, there’s also pink and also blue, but I always appreciate when there’s more than pink and blue. Here’s where the trouble started snowballing: I contacted customer support and I always screenshot my chats with them, because you never know, right? I was told they couldn’t get a replacement sent (after the defective unit was back in their possession), but they would issue a refund and I’d be able to reorder once the refund hit my account- gift card in this case. **I asked if I’d still get it for the price I paid ($140), and the customer chat person (whose name I have as evidenced in the screenshot) and she replied yes. 3 days later, my account was credited and I pulled up the appropriate model and lo and behold the price has jumped to $199. **I started another chat and explained everything and the first person (whose name I also have thanks to screenshotting the chat) didn’t understand why I wasn’t okay with paying $60 increase, so they ended the chat and the next associate asked me to explain and they said refunds take 3-5 business days to hit. I said it isn’t about the refund- I already have a refund- and at that point I asked to speak to the manager (it was 1 AM at this point), and all of a sudden I see this message, ‘associate had technical difficulties’, the ‘chat’ had dropped. Then they asked me fora rating (which I was happy to do), by now it was 2am. **I attempted to reach them again, except this time, was getting no one to help. If you’ve ever used the chat help before, you may have had to go out of the chat to go copy an order number, come back, paste it and the chat picks up the conversation again. I’ve done that maybe twice, no issues, a 6th grader could do it. Checked my in app msgs, and nothing. Check my email. Nothing. Next I go to Twitter bc I’ve been able to get questions answered there before, about things like what to do when your delivery driver offloads your packages onto the uncovered driveway and leaves them in the rain instead of the front porch, which is covered. So I posted that I needed help and an associate sent me a link. A dead link. I tweet her back the link was dead. When she tells me she can’t help me bc I used social media, I realize they don’t actually care about their customers, only their image. **At this point I have no confidence. I can tell you this makes me think I should have gone with Google products, and I have a 10” Alexa, 2x 5” Alexas, an 8” Alexa, 2 paper whites and an 8” Kids Fire tablet, 3 dots and 2 Blink minis with the rotating bases and a Blink doorbell with the sync module and I’m going to return them all, if I don’t see resolution. **If I have to do that, I’m also going to close my Amazon Prime membership and take my considerable discretionary spending dollars somewhere else… because this will be a MAJOR inconvenience as I have 3 kids under 3 here, who will need monitors in each of their rooms. **Time consuming. I just don’t have spare time. **I’m not certain if this is price gouging or something worse, like sending customers defective units at a low price, in order to sell me the same model unit for a MARKUP of $60… I mean I’ve heard worse. It’s the principal of this whole thing. Maybe someone else has had this same thing happen, but they roll over bc their children need a tablet. Mine don’t NEED one, and yeah, the Alexa integration would have been useful, but honestly I can side load this into my iPad and not miss a beat: this has become a headache. **I don’t think this is an honest mistake, because no one’s trying to help me resolve this issue and I deliberately waited a couple days to give Amazon Customer Service a chance to research my account and chat history and pull up the screenshots I sent them. They’ve not. To conclude: take your money to Best Buy. ** I will update this review if anything changes, just like I will amend/remove my Twitter post, if anything changes. While attempting to attach screenshots, my review disappeared and threw me out of the app, fortunately I’d already saved.

If you have a child...you need this tablet. you can control the level of activities, cut it off after a certain amount of play or at bedtime. Great !!

My daughters love their tablets! I especially adore that it has a parental feature where I can approve or decline certain apps that may or may not be appropriate for my kids. The cases are super durable and drop proof. They drop them alot trust me. I can set bedtime limits and educational goals but they also get access to loads of educational games. The volume on these are super loud too so they don’t even need to turn it all the way up. I recommend getting an external SD card for extra storage. But I’m highly recommend this tablet!
