Bought it almost two years now it’s still working great and taking charge and keeping charge the only issue is after awhile or a few downloads it’ll start to delay a little or move slow

We will start with the pros - you can block most content if you don’t like it. Some is harder to block than others and it takes awhile. You also have to know what you want to block as there is so much content. I didn’t feel like a lot of it was age appropriate for my kids and you can’t search through everything available. Parental controls are great and I love the educational goals and time settings/limits. The camera and screen are much better quality than the kids tablets we’ve had in the past. Cons - these tablets are slow. Most times I think it has stalled and you end up going back and forth trying to get somewhere. My kids mostly don’t notice though. When you get the tablet it comes with kids access for 4 or 5 devices for 1 year. When you buy another tablet it just starts your year over instead of adding to it. My kids birthdays are about 2 weeks apart and instead of having 2 years access, we got a year and 2 weeks because it reset on my sons birthday. The battery is okay I guess maybe 2-3 hours. You also have to allow amazon to take, track, and listen to all of your kids information to use the texting, calling, or Alexa. I know Alexa has to listen; but they don’t need to know everything about my young child or anyone else for that matter. I blocked those features, but my kids were very disappointed.

So, the tablet itself will suffice for my granddaughter but using the Amazon Kids+ that came with it will take some doing. It's not easy on the website to find the Parents Dashboard and figure out how to use it. I found some really terrific apps for my granddaughter and found that, when sending them to the device, they are only sent to the adult side of the OS where she cannot use them because I don't want her to have access to it. To get those apps to her side, you have to jump through all kinds of hoops. Ridiculous! It doesn't tell you that, after selecting them, you need to go to the Parents Dashboard and allow the permissions on her side of the OS. Amazon needs to do a better job of explaining how it works. The operating system definitely needs some work. It's cumbersome, slow and not user friendly, especially for someone who is used to using Apple and Windows products.

My son has had his tablet for a year. It continuously crashes. Even Amazon prime crashes on it, so you can’t say Netflix or anything is the issue. I have connected it to my phone and my home wifi multiple times within 1 hour because it disconnects so easily. Not to mention, YouTube kids has content that is not for children on there…. Which was teaching my 2 year old about ADULT topics… on how kids are created. And it has dolls doing things to each other. Usually I just put on coco melon for him, but this was a video that played AFTER coco melon. These tablets are not safe for kids, and they die within 30 minutes.

Not really sure what's going on but, I purchased these (two) less than a week ago and every time my kids get to playing on them, it kicks them off after awhile. Like 30 minutes to an hour. I'm really disappointed with this defect (I cannot find a setting that would explain or fix this). My 2 year old needs help and gets very frustrated when it kicks her off and starts a temper tantrum. My 6yo gets really upset bc he gets so far in a game and boom, kicked off! Loses a race or whatever he's built, etc. They have password locks on them and I now have two very dissatisfied kids that won't even touch these anymore. Instead of something fun or something to keep them occupied while their only parent is busy, I have two very ornery, upset kids, interrupting important phone calls and work, hollering bc their tablets kicked them off yet again and they need the password put back in or even more recently, they don't even use them. So I'm back to the same dilemma. My poor son went back to his extremely shattered OLD Amazon kids tablet bc this one "sucks." Anyone else having issues such as this???

Review for 1 of 3 devices: 1/5 star - Junk. After having had three of these for 6 months, the charging port went bad on one of them. The Kindle is completely dead and nothing happens when the charging cable is plugged in, but the same cable works on other devices (tried multiple cables). When I've tried to reach out to Amazon CS for a replacement (2 year warranty?) I keep getting error messages and haven't been able to connect to chat or put in a call back request... not sure if this is becoming a systemic issue or if I've just had bad luck, because Amazon CS has been very responsive for us in the past. Review for 2 of 3 devices: 2/5 stars - Barely adequate. Personally don't know how anyone rates these higher than that... First impression... they run super slow and laggy, but the kids tolerate it, so it's all good right? Well, until anytime they need me to get in and mess with the settings or try to free up storage space (see rant in next para)... then I want to take a hammer to the stupid laggy POS. But hey, the cases are pretty nice! (even if they don't include a screen protector) <Rant on> Might have rounded up to 3 stars, except for the biggest problem: they essentially become bricks every few months when the onboard storage fills up. Then they require a factory reset, download and reinstall of all the system updates, reloading of child profiles and download and reinstall of their apps... which can take hours! Why is this happening? Well, let's say your kid uninstalls a game to free up space for a new one. Delete 700MB game, free up 700MB for new game, right? Wrong! The uninstall removed the icon, but most/all of the actual files remain and just get tagged to a nice little catchall called "miscellaneous"... which just gets bigger and bigger until there's not even enough free space for the device to function. Even adding in expandable storage doesn't do any good! This has been a known issue for years (that we weren't aware of before buying and running into the problem ourselves) that Amazon does nothing to address. <Rant off>

I had one of these for my son ages ago and decided to get one for my daughter when she was the same age. Whatever you do, do not let kids play while on the charger or charge it themselves. For a kid's device, the charging port is weak. After a year, it will no longer charge. The battery life also isn't that great. The screen and case don't break, but that charging port does. It is also kind of slow, which for kids, can cause a lot of frustration. The setup was also challenging for me, and I had some issues.

This is the most annoying Tablet I've ever purchased! I bought the scan disks to add to the 16 gb internal storage and then spent an hour on the phone with Amazon to actually get information to save to it. Now there is some misc file that cannot be moved and is taking up 5GB! Ridiculous! It's a kids tablet for crying out loud it shouldn't be this difficult! 16gb internal storage is a joke. Don't waste your time or money on a 16gb. It should be a 128gb minimum. My cell phone has 256gb internal!

I bought this tablet for my son to replace a previous one that stopped working after a few years. Never had a single problem with the first tablet. This one on the other hand started to have issues after 4 weeks of use. The parental control was impossible to be unlocked so I called Amazon. Amazon CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL! It used to be amazing but it’s been going downhill. I called the first time, and the rep kept putting me on hold. She clearly didn’t know how to handle a simple call. I spent 56 min on the phone (practically on hold) and she finally hung up/ the call dropped without the issue being resolved. I called again only to spend another hour having to explain myself to another rep who was helpful. She order a replacement. The replacement arrived but when I tried to set it up, it wouldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi. I spent another hour on the phone. The rep kept asking me to go to configurations and I kept telling him the device would let me pass by the Wi-Fi screen. Very frustrating. They sent me a defective device. I finally told the guy I wanted it to be replaced. He emailed me and in his email it said that Amazon didn’t have the device in stock. I told him, he said it was his mistake and then emailed me again. The next morning when I opened my email, I saw he placed a repair order not a replacement and I’d have to pay $15.90. I called Amazon again and had another frustrating conversation. I asked to talk to a supervisor and the rep immediately say they were not available. I had to ask 4 times and be firm about it. When I finally talked to the supervisor she told me that even though I bought a NEW device, Amazon would only replace it with a refurbished device. I asked where it says that in the product description and she said it doesn’t. And that it also doesn’t say Amazon will replace it with a new one. DO NOT BUY DEVICES FROM AMAZON. Their products’ quality is very poor (it wasn’t). We’re having issues with all of our fire sticks too. This is the first time I have this kind of issue with both customer service and products from Amazon. I’m very disappointed and frustrated at how poorly they handled the whole thing.

I had an older version and it was so slow it was barely usable, so I decided to upgrade. This one is a very small improvement. The UI is constantly hanging for seconds at a time. The money you save isn't worth it, unless you really really need to save some money. I will be buying more premium tablets in the future.

I started getting these for Mt boys when they were 3. My youngest is now 5 and I like the versatility of these as far as them being age appropriate. We've gone through a few of these over the years (one to a bath, dropped getting out of a car, one intentionally broken during a tantrum, etc) but never from normal wear and tear. If my kids took care of their stuff, I think these would have lasted several years. The case is a bonus, the built in handle helps prevent a lot of drops. My eldest is 8 and I can set each of them up to be age appropriate for each of them. I use Amazon kids so I can easily restrict and give access as needed (as well as prevent purchases without my permission). They have a good display, and long battery life.

At 1st I loved the item I bought 2 of them. After awhile of kids using it it starts to run slow and its alittle easier for kids to break then I thought it would be. Would definitely recommend it for kids over the age of 7 or 8
