I've had ice skates over the years and these are good skates, comfortable, good lace up system like most skates. I got the size 9, I'm generally a size 9 or 9.5, and these fit great but check the size chart to be sure. They come with a guard over the blade and the toe stop, to protect your fingers. Plus partially laced so you will have to string them the rest of the way, which I generally suck at lol. Also you will need to put in the soles as well, which I didn't notice til after I laced them up, I'd put them in before lacing up so it's easier. I happen to live in a place where there are rinks that only charge for skates, so if you have your own, it's a free skate. NICE. These are great. ... show more

These skates are pretty comfortable and well made. I have a wide foot and sized up so they are a tiny bit tight on my foot. I’ve only worn them twice so I am hoping as I break them in more the comfort will improve. Compared to the rental skates there are 100% better.

The bottom/lower that attaches the steel blade to the upper/boot is made from PVC Leather. So, it's just not going to last. Plus, instead of rivets of some kind, there are physical screws holding it together. So, from a guy who has literally had the same pair of CCM Tacks 552s since he was 17 (years), these simply won't hold up. However, I paid an arm and a leg back in the late 90s for those skates. So, they really might be great for a casual skater. I got these for a couple of Women's sized 7s in my life. They seem to be comfortable enough. As a beginner, you should always manage your sock thickness to enable comfort and warmth. So, that's on you to find the balance. These are okay skates.
