I wanted to purchase the 9 inch oval platter in a new color to add to my sets. I ordered it in the lapis blue, it came very quickly, and it is gorgeous! I love the heavy duty weight to fiesta ware, this platter is small, perfect for serving cookies, crackers and cheese, candies, nuts, small items. I fell in love with Fiestaware when I discovered some Fiesta serving bowls during an antiquing "expedition." Ever since then I've been hooked because I love the quality and the multitude of colors that you can mix and match any way you want. I decided I wanted to add some more pieces to my collection so I purchased 4 of these platters (2 in lemongrass and 2 in sunflower). The quality is great but calling this a platter is laughable because it's so small. I read the size and the reviews but I didn't really understand how tiny this platter is. To me this is like an oversized oval-shaped dessert plate. It's possible to fit 2 regular hot dogs with buns in this plate and that's it. Personally I would not purchase any more of this size because it's too small for anything but a side salad, snack, or a small dieter's breakfast. As a result they will get less use that my other Fiesta dishes. Despite the size, however, this is the high quality product I expected. Fiestaware is sturdy, heavy, chip resistant, colorful, and reasonably priced. ON ANOTHER NOTE: Amazon also packaged this so well that it took me about 6 minutes to unwrap each plate from the copious amount of bubble wrap and tape it was enveloped in. ... show more

I started buying fiesta over Christmas and haven't been able to stop. I've fallen in love with the look and have been collecting many of the pieces. This platter seemed rather small to me. But I agree that it's a perfect size for serving small portions. I don't think it's one of the must have pieces. But for the price at which I bought it ($10) it was worth it. I don't think I would have been happy had I paid more than that discounted price because it is rather small. Overall, I love having matching pieces for the dish set I bought. All of my pieces are sunflower with the only exception being two large coffee mugs in cobalt which are also very beautiful. I just wonder if too many cobalt pieces would be too dark for a table. So I keep those mugs separate just for coffee. The sunflower is beautiful and having many pieces out at once in the same color is not a dizzying as I imagine combining colors would be for me. (They are very bright colors!) ... show more

I purchased this tray in plum . This tray is NOT large enough for meats, but it is the perfect size for breads, snacks, desserts, etc. I also ordered the 13 5/8" tray in plum, and it IS a great size for chops, chicken, and other meats. I have no complaints with the Fiesta pieces I have ordered through Amazon. As with any other dinnerware, there are occasional variances in color, firing, and possibly small defects. I have ordered many Fiesta accessories and a complete dinner service for 8. Of these pieces, only 2 have had any significant "flaws." I highly recommend Fiesta. ... show more

I have been collecting the 11 3/4" oval plates from Fiestaware and really wanted to get some of these 9" plates to use as sandwich plates. Amazon had them on a special, Buy 3 get one free, so I picked up 4 for my collection. I LOVE THEM. They are the perfect size for a lunch or sandwich plate. I purchased them in 4 different colors for a fun table setting. Oval plates fit nicely on a table without competeing for room in the center of the table AND a normal serving size of food fills up the plate so you don't feel as though you need to pile more food on your plate. The plates were way to small . I returned them and was charged 74.00 to return them. I had to return 2 boxes so to return was almost as much as it cost buy. Total to return 2 boxes was 147.00
