I like this notebook. I have rite in the rain also. I like the quality of this notebook better. I found that the Field notes smeared less than rite in the rain. Field Notes is the right size for me. Also I like the spacing better. Rite in the rain’s cover for its note pad is poor in quality and I went with Lochby and it’s much better.

Now this is just nifty
Why anybody needs a waterproof notebook, only you can determine for yourself. The pages feel really nice, sort of a silky/satiny surface that takes pencil really well. Graphite can be smudged & rubbed off with your finger, and COMPLETELY erased with a rubber eraser. Ballpoint pen can be partially erased with an eraser, but the faint ghost of what you wrote will remain. The list of suggested uses at the back contains some real comedic gems.

Nice but smears
These notebooks are really awesome since they are waterproof and a great size, however, if you like to use gel ink pens, they need time to dry and even then may still smear.

Great, besides one thing.
Works as described, really awesome notebook. The dot grid is FANTASTIC. Pen smudges on this tho. You have to use pencil.

Great for note taking, you need a ballpoint
It is a great expedition and sketch notebook just note thag you will have to bring a ballpoint or a fine tip sharpie because no Rollerball or gel ink will stay on the paper and youll end up with a lot of smudgy pages
