    • It's all an illusion
This is a neat looking desktop toy, but it calls itself a "suspension top", and the ostensibly suspended ball is actually attached firmly to the frame. The label on the box says explicitly "Magnetic Floating Ball Kinetic Desk Toy". It spins on its base, and could present an interesting illusion, but it spins off center showing very clearly that there is no magnetic suspension installed. This is a ball glued to a frame. It barely gives the illusion of a floating ball. The description, if read very carefully says illusion. But it really makes you think that this ball floats via magnet or something. It is a cheap plastic toy with a glued ball that wobbles when spun. It does not fill what you would get out of a fidget toy. I would not expect this to be more than $5. ... show more

This thing is fun to watch. Sturdy metal. Good colors. The metal ball is connected to the frame. It doesn’t actually float - it’s just an “optical illusion,” as stated in the listing. The listing currently has a notice to let people know that the ball is attached to the frame. So if you’re OK with that, and you just want something to spin on your desk and look cool - this may be a great item for you! It doesn’t spin forever, but it does go for a longer time than most spinning toys. I don’t think it’s a $20 item. More like $9-$12. ... show more

    • Neat visual, disappointing solution
The ball does not really float. I was hoping it was electromagnetic. Instead, it is a ball welded into place. The pedestal the item sits on spins. It creates an illusion that the ball is floating. It is well crafted and the illusion is convincing, however, it is a little overpriced for what it is.
