  • This looks dumb but it really speeds up your work.
This product is great if your vacuum is stationary-ish. Festool really thinks things through. I was having issues where my sander would get hung up on something and the bed of the sander would not be flat on something I was trying to flatten. Not the best way of working, so got this accessory and it solved the problem. The out rigger arms are a bit useless, but overall I am happy with my purchase. The listing is a little vague so I bought the tool holder as well. Don’t do that, it’s included with the kit. No complaints about quality or utility of this item. Very useful for Vaccuum +domino machine. The bad news is: after you add this your Vaccuum is not going out to the field. Happy sanding! ... show more

  • Time will tell
Took awhile to decide to spend the money on this but after using it a few times you kind of forget about the price. No more stepping on or tripping on the hose and getting tangled in the cord. Get the clips to hold the cord on the hose to keep things tidy.If the arm rotated a little more then I would have given 5 stars. ... show more

  • Solves one problem but creates others
I purchased this along with a CT26 hoping to better manage my power cable and vacuum hose while working at my MFT table. The first issue I realized in my wood shop is that I can't vacuum anything below about 1' in height as the standard 3.5m hose isn't long enough to reach the ground. I realized that I quite frequently use a tool on my MFT and then detach the vacuum hose from the tool to clean up some dust, however I now have no way to reach many areas in my shop without adding on an extension. Another issue is that with the handle and tool holder in the back, and the 50mm extension hose in front, this thing becomes very large and ungainly. It takes up 2x the space in my shop as my CT Midi and much more space than the CT26 would on it's own in both width and length. I also failed to appreciate how hard it would be for me to find a place in the shop with the adequate overhead clearance for the boom. I needed to store the vacuum sideways to prevent the boom from hitting overhead stored items. My biggest design gripe is the removal of the power cord holder. There is simply no reason to not have the ability to remount the original one or provide a new one that is part of the boom assembly. The second design issue are the stabilizer bars. They are way too clunky to use and I ended up leaving them off. They should be sold as an added option to save money for those that don't need them. With a tool Systainer on the vacuum there is plenty of weight to keep the vacuum from tipping. Overall I'm not convinced the added cost, space and loss of functionality is worth the benefit in keeping the vacuum hose suspended. If you are in an auto shop or are setting up a dedicated sanding station this may be perfect. In a small shop where this is the only vacuum I'm not sure if this will work out. ... show more

  • Assembly Is Awful; Finished Product is Awkward and Sometimes Counterproductive
I bought two at the same time and I'm returning the second one, unopened. I own just about every Festool power tool they make and I love them all. But this Festool product is a real clunker for several reasons: The Festool assembly instructions are so unclear because there are things you MUST do in the assembly, but the MAIN instructions don't even mention those things at all; EVER. I had assembled the whole rig, only to learn that other (included) parts needed to be assembled AT THE START of the main assembly process. This meant disassembling much of what I had done in order to make the rig functional. Here's an example: The main assembly instructions never mentioned that BEFORE you follow the step by step instructions you need to attach a certain plate to the bottom of the CT26! Once the rig is assembled, it's too late. To attache that plate required me to disassemble what I had done! Sure, the plate was included in the box, but if you followed the main instructions, you failed to attach that plate to the bottom of the CT26 before following the main instructions. Disassembling what I had done not only cost me an extra hour, it also cost me two cuts on the fingers of my right hand. The metal is necessarily strong to support the vacuum hose, but there are sharp edges to that metal; hence the cuts on my fingers, not to mention the frustration. Moreover, like one of the other reviewers said, once the rig is complete and functional, you can't bring the hose down to the floor where the sawdust is. You have to use Festool vacuum extensions to reach the floor (the vacuum extensions are sold separately). The hose attached to the boom arm "eats up" about 7 feet of the original hose such that the business end of the hose has very limited reach -- especially if you want to vacuum an area a few feet away. Yes, Festool gives you an additional length of hose in the box, but this five foot additional hose simply isn't enough. You still can't reach the floor. Another reviewer mentioned that once the assembly is complete there are superfluous metal parts that are overkill. I agree. And those superfluous parts make it very awkward to move the vacuum -- especially if you want to take the vacuum elsewhere in your workshop or, heaven forbid, move it away to a remote job site. It's just too bulky and awkward. In sum, I don't recommend this boom arm product. Assembly is very frustrating if you follow the instructions step by step (as I did), and the hardware (i.e., screws and wing nuts) is not identified as to which screws go where -- making you resort to using your own hardware (as I had to do) to get the rig assembled. Take my advice: Think twice before you buy this product. ... show more

  • Terrible instructions
Instructions are worthless, way over engineered and way too heavy for what is required. Cross braces are useless, support arms aren’t needed, basically half of the structure can be eliminated, don’t bother with the side braces, just add the handle and leave the rest out…..$200 turned into 450 for nothing but headaches, and worthless instructions, Chinese ones are better, extremely disappointed and excessive paint prevents proper connections ... show more
