  • Plays Like a Dream
Color: Sea Foam Green Size: Full
I've had many P-basses, including the American Standard, and this is my fave. I had a different Vintera-style P some time ago in a different color and I deeply regret selling it though it really doesn't matter now. Anyway... I think this is the perfect P-bass. It has all the high-end craftsmanship but none of the extraneous features that push up the price of the Ultra, like the hardshell case and electronics package. Even the factory strings on this are rad. Normally I just cut them off and restring with DR Blues but these are fat, warm, smooth and super-playable. I do have to admit it was improperly strung and the bridge was incorrectly installed but I don't care at all. It's ten minutes to do the setup maintenance you have to do with a new bass anyway. If I ever buy someone a bass as a gift it'll be this one, no question, and when I have money to burn I'm gonna just collect these in different colors. ... show more

  • Do it.
Color: Sea Foam Green Size: Full
I'm going to start by saying that this a great bass but price is the only reason it's getting 4 stars. Its a p bass. MIM. Don't quite understand the price point. I ONLY BOUGHT THIS BASS BECAUSE ITS MY FAVORITE COLOR. lol. Anyway. I needed a true passive p again. The Fender Vintera 50's p just so happened to be offered in seafoam green and vintage tint neck... Impulse... clearly. Went to the local GC to play one and immediately had buyers remorse. Lol but I told myself that the bass had not properly been set up. Recieved the bass safely. After the set up and a set of flatwounds this bass just instantly became a bit of a romance. Its long winded but its my review 😘 Feel was pretty good. Neck was very comfortable and "friendly" Finish, other than a few minor blemishes and questionable hardware design, is great. Even though i kinda want to drag it behind a truck on a dirt road... Fit.... this is my biggest issue with this bass. First off the pickguard was extremely snug in the neck pocket. I thought I was going to damaged it when I attempted to remove it. The neck was extremely tight on the body... so much so that I found it concerning. Sound. This p bass nails p bass. Stock pickups are a little weak for band settings is my only issue with the pickups. Other than that they sound really good. Overall. A little overpriced. Some minor issues ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... show more

  • Old School Charm Without The Sticker Shock!
Color: Dakota Red Size: Full
I purchased the Dakota Red Vintera Precision bass because I have been looking for that vintage feel and sound without having to mortgage the house. I wish I could afford a true vintage '58 Precision Bass, but the Vintera does not leave me disappointed. The first thing you will notice is it's beefy neck. If you are looking for a slim modern neck, this isn't it. It is the vintage "C" style neck with a wider fretboard which feels really good to me IMO. The gold aluminum pick guard really stands out next to the red of the body. The craftsmanship and finish is excellent; no fret sprouts or blemishes in the finish. The electronics are excellent with no buzz or crackle and the pups definitely have that vintage sound, particularly when the tone is rolled all the way off; you can definitely channel your inner James Jamerson and Duck Dunn. If you roll the tone back up it nicely brightens things up. I did have my luthier complete a set-up on it and I did change the stock strings with La Bella flats to further provide that old school sound. If you are looking for a bright modern sound then you may want to check out the Vintera Jazz basses. I play the bass through a Fender Rumble which allows this bass to sound it's best. Lastly, the tuners do their job well and provide stable tuning. This is an excellent bass and I have no reservation with recommending it if you want the old school feel and sound. C'mon, you know you want it!! ... show more

  • Value
I have been a pro bassist for almost 50 yrs. I own a Thumb bass, Jazz bass and Fretless jazz. I had to retire my P bass after almost 40 yrs of faithful service. This Vintera bass is an outstanding value and plays like a dream. The tone is classic P bass and the fit and finish is great. I've played it at several Gigs and people love the blond finish. My only complaint was the bridge is of low quality. I replaced the bridge with a Bad Ass Bridge and now it is perfect. The new bridge was very affordable and an easy swap. Can't beat the quality and tone for the price. ... show more
