I used the double kit to rebuild a 9 ft wide gate that was rotting away. This kit made things a lot easier than making corner half-lap joints and I think the price is reasonable for what this is. The braces are high-quality and appear to be very strong, but I was disappointed with the screws that were provided. There is just NO WAY those screws were going to hold up this heavy gate. Instead, I used my own exterior construction screws that were a little longer and beefier. See my pictures. The black ones were the screws provided and the gray ones are the ones I used. I connected the gate to the posts using 1/4 inch x 2 1/2 inch galvanized hex lag screws connected at 90° to the post. Look at my picture to see how I made this connection. I think this will make for a lot stronger connection than using the black screws and mounting it to the post like a house door, though it added about $10 to the cost. So far, the gate is holding up. Only time will tell if it sags.

I have always wanted to use one of these kits to see how well they worked. I built a new fence this week and I used the gate kit on the gate. I am very impressed with how sturdy the gate is. I was skeptical but as the gate build progressed I realized the gate was getting very sturdy. After building and installing the gate I am sold that I will never build another gate without it. Very well constructed and seems to be very durable. I really think this kit will also prevent future sagging of the gate. Great price point for the product.

At about $50 you're paying a bit of a premium for the kit, as opposed to going to the hardware store and picking up all the similar components. But they all match very well, and they are pretty heavy-duty. If you aren't too confident in your woodworking skills this kit will definitely help you tackle the project, and even if you have experience you'll probably see this kit as a nice convenient time saver. The hinges seem smooth, the finish looks good and the final product is solid. It's also nice that it comes with screws and latches.

The media could not be loaded. The fence gate kit came after just 3 days of my order. All the parts arrived, nothing missing ( see picture). I am going to replace my old fence gate because it is rusted and is not easy to open or close. The new gate from this kit looks simpler to assemble and the finished gate will weight less than my old gate because the new gate uses less wood. The pictures and manual help a lot.
