  • Fein struck out
Size: 5.8 Gallon Style: Turbo 1 Set
When I needed another shop vacuum, I bought Fein’s 92027 (kit) because I really liked my 2001 Turbo-1 (91120 – long-discontinued but still working well) The main reason I did not return the 92027 is that it is fairly quiet (but louder than the 91120)- & that is very important to me I would not recommend buying the 92027 because: Power cord is too stiff to be useful (14 awg-3 wire) The 2 hooks are barely suitable for taming the cord, leaving no provision for coiling up the hose The auto-start feature runs the cost up (& maybe accounts for the cord which otherwise could be 16-2 like 91120) & is not that useful given the popularity of cordless tools The adapter with suction control that comes with the vac appears to be an odd diameter that does not fit standard American 1.25” tools, the Fein 92027’s tools or Fein 91120’s tools No Fein tools fit “standard” vacuums or vise-versa; Fein’s own tools from 2001 do not fit the 92027 (AND- Fein stops selling brushes & other tools after a while, leaving no clear alternative) There is no suction control on the elbow that comes permanently attached to the hose (a short end with detachable elbow is far better- as on the old Fein vac) The dusting brush is a joke: small, awkward to use & suction pulls bristles into opening, blocking the flow The instruction booklet is poorly-written & makes even the most simple task confusing (like installing the bag) If you decide to buy the 92027, here are easy solutions to 2 of the problems: Hose storage: the top surface has a 3.5”-deep hole near each corner (screw head visible at bottom); I cut 2 pieces of 3/8” dia. aluminum tubing to 9” (rod would work too, or wood dowel); painted them black & they drop into the holes & extend up enough to coil 3 turns of the hose around The dusting brush: buy on Amazon the 35mm-32mm adapter ($6.49); then buy “horsehair dust brush for 1.25” vacuum” from ThePartsBiz.com or elsewhere (about $3 each vs. $15 each for useless Fein brushes) ... show more

  • Great sucker & tips to mount dust cyclone separator
Size: 5.8 Gallon Style: Turbo 1 Set
So far this vacuum has been amazing, especially after I replaced the hose that came with it to 2.5’ ones — it’s now handling my 10’ bandsaw, sawstop jobsote with ease. The suction is strong enough to collapse the Home Depot bucket (tips guys??), yet it’s quiet enough that I’m comfortably using it without hearing protection. Auto start currently works amazing. I want to praise the flat top design. It allows me to mount my cyclone bucket securely, simply with 4 12 inch bungee cords (set of 4 cost 5 bucks from homedpot). The hook has plenty places to grab securely under the vac. See pictures. I was in the middle of designing my fancy mounting racks, till I saw those cords in the HD. I highly recommend you give it a try. Do mount them in a symmetric fashion (minimum is 2) so that it’s stable. I can’t tip it off even if I tried to. ... show more

  • Best value unit for AutoClean
Size: 9.3 Gallon Capacity Style: Turbo 2 X AC HEPA
After a few months of use (Turbo II X AC HEPA version), this unit has performed great and is very high quality. Note that the comparable AutoClean Festool unit with all the accessories wouldbe over double what this Fein costs. I often see people complaining about no onboard hose storage (like the Festool). While it looks nice in theory to stick the hose in a small little container, if you frequently use this in the shop it's worthless. I like the bungee cords on the Fein because you can leave the hose plugged in, and then wrap the hose around the unit and secure it. If you need to transport the vac, you can simply unplug the hose, coil it up, and throw it in a bag. I would suggest NOT buying the autoclean version unless you do drywall sanding or concrete grinding. Only with these extreme fine dust debris conditions is autoclean required. As stated in another review, the AC function produces a loud 'thump' and can be a nuisance for general vacuum work. My only complaint on the AC version is that you cannot permanently turn it off, it is always on by default and you have to click the AC button off each time. However, if you are using the autostart function with a tool, it will stay OFF the entire duration. ... show more
