These freeze-dried orange slices were much more flavorful than I expected. Since the moisture has been removed, the orange flavor becomes very concentrated, giving them a strong citrus aroma and a pleasantly tangy sweetness. The slices arrived mostly whole and intact, with vibrant color. They have a light, crunchy texture when dry, but they soften nicely once added to a drink or tea. I especially liked using them as a garnish for cocktails and sparkling water, since they look more elegant than a freshly cut orange slice and don’t spoil nearly as quickly. I also tried a few as a snack straight from the bag. The texture is crisp and airy, almost like a fruit chip, but without added sugar or artificial ingredients. The resealable bag is convenient and makes it easy to use a few slices at a time. One thing I noticed is that after opening the package, you’ll want to make sure the bag is sealed as tightly as possible. Even though I resealed mine carefully, the slices had absorbed a little moisture from the air after about a week and weren’t quite as crispy as they were when first opened. They were still perfectly usable, especially as a cocktail garnish, but the texture was noticeably less crunchy. One other thing worth noting is that freeze-dried citrus naturally has a more concentrated bitterness from the peel than fresh oranges do. I personally enjoyed that in drinks, especially in whiskey cocktails, but some people expecting candy-like sweetness may be surprised. Overall, these are attractive, flavorful, and versatile freeze-dried orange slices that work well for cocktails, tea, baking, and snacking.

I didn’t personally care for them, but my daughter loved them, so it’s a win in my book. The slices have a strong, tangy citrus flavor with a crunchy texture that’s very different from fresh fruit, so they’re definitely more of a niche snack. They’re also really versatile for things like drinks, tea, or baking if you like adding a citrus twist. The quality is good and the bag is convenient and resealable, which helps keep them fresh and crunchy. While they weren’t my favorite for snacking straight out of the bag, they’re a fun and unique option that clearly appeals more to citrus lovers!!

I bought these freeze dried orange slices mainly to make fruity drinks at home, and they’ve been perfect for that. Instead of stopping somewhere to buy a flavored drink every time I’m out running errands, I’ve been using these to add citrus flavor and a fun garnish to drinks I make myself. It’s definitely helping me save money while still enjoying something that feels a little special. The slices are nicely dried and keep their shape well. They’re light and crunchy right out of the bag, and the orange flavor is still strong even though they’re freeze dried. When I drop one into a drink like sparkling water, iced tea, or lemonade, it slowly softens and releases more of that citrus flavor. I recently purchased a freeze dryer so I purchased these so I could taste freeze dried oranges before commiting to a dryer full of something I would not eat. These are very crunchy, the flesh part is very sweet. You can tell they were picked and freeze dried in their prime. You can use the as a healthy snack or crush them like I did to use in homemade orange cookies instead of extract. They provided a very nice orange flavor to the cookies with no artificial flavorings added. They are very versitile and can be used in many forms of baking. The rind is sour as you would expect real orange rind to be. The value for the money is great as you could not purchase fresh oranges for this price.

If you close your eyes and taste one of the slices, you have no idea what you just put in your mouth. There is perhaps a 1% Taste of bitter rind but it's still hard to identify that it has anything to do with an orange. Three people tasted this product when it arrived doing it as described above. Not one of them identified it as Orange. Complete waste of money and we just simply threw the rest of the bag in the trash. There is no way that I would add this to any baked good unless I was looking for someone to slap me upside the head for doing so.

This is a bag full of freeze-dried orange slices. On the plus side, they look attractive, and the bag arrived with no breakage. Plus, the only ingredient is oranges. The problem, though, is that these slices include the orange peel and the pith. Theoretically, you should be able to snack on these, and I have gotten freeze-dried fruit on many occasions to snack on, but because of the rind and pith, these slices taste bitter and unpleasant. I tried eating a bit that was just the center portion, but it still didn’t taste sweet. I’m sure there are alternative applications, such as baking, where these might work well, and if you candied them (probably requires rehydrating first), the peel and pith would probably not be an issue, but as-is, just for snacking, I don’t enjoy them, unfortunately.

Freeze-dried fruit is a gamble. Sometimes you open the bag expecting “fruit,” and instead you get something that tastes like sweet packing peanuts that once met a strawberry at a party. Not these. These freeze-dried oranges taste… like oranges. I know, groundbreaking stuff. But if you’ve tried enough freeze-dried snacks, you know that’s actually impressive. The flavor is bright, citrusy, and somehow still very “orange,” just with that crunchy astronaut-snack texture. My only tiny complaint is the peel bits that sneak in. The orange part? Delicious. The peel part? Let’s just say it tastes like the orange is judging you. Otherwise, these things are a hit in my house. I love them. My dogs love them. My niece and nephew have been successfully convinced they are “crunchy orange candy,” which makes me look like the responsible adult for once. They’re also fantastic as a high-value walking treat for my dog. When we’re out on a walk and she’s deciding between mysterious sidewalk oil slick and listening to me, the orange wins every time. Honestly, same. Crunchy, tasty, healthy, and apparently effective as both dog bribes and child deception snacks. Hard to argue with that. TL;DR: Crunchy oranges that actually taste like oranges. Dogs love them, kids think they’re candy, only downside is the occasional peel bit that tastes like citrus disappointment. 🍊🐶
