Seamless Transfer of Old Data
In my family history research I had inputted a lot of data in a very old version of this software. When updating to a computer with Windows 11 the older version would no longer work. This software was shipped promptly, installed on my new computer easily and accepted all the data created in the old version. Loving the updates in this new version. ... show more

NOT user friendly.
I was really hoping for a software program that was user friendly. This has a learning curve that has kept me up most of the night, swearing at my computer, while seriously regretting my purchase. I know that there are people who love this program, a family member apparently "can't live without it." I really was hoping that it would be more user friendly, AND I really wish that it was aesthetically pleasing, I previewed the photos of the item before purchasing, so, it's not like I didn't know what I was buying. The problem is, its pretty much the only genealogy software program out there, that is compatible with Ancestry and the ability to download your GEDCOM. I found other software programs that looked amazing but the reviews weren't great. When I attempted to download my GEDCOM to this program, there was nothing to show me that it had completed the download. So, I tried again, still nothing. I went to the home page, and it still only showed mine and my parents names, that I entered manually. I tried one last time after ejecting and reinserting the disc. After I did that ALL three downloads appeared! BUT to make matters worse, I have to manually delete over 800 people one by one TWICE! (1600+ ancestors!) Maybe it's user error, but I'm just done for tonight, after spending over 2 hours attempting to get it to show my information. I'm going to bed. ... show more

Guide
I disliked the fact that there is nothing to guide you on how to use the software..I love that I can see my Family tree but can't do anything with it!!!

Excellent link to resources for family records
It took some time to learn how to navigate around the software but in a couple days (after playing with it), I was able to move around and start building my family tree. The software starts with yourself in the first blank spot and then work backwards to your father /mother. Each relationship expands from there and starts building from there. I have not been able to figure out how to print a portrait style family tree like you see on the Family Search Org web site to share with my siblings, nor how to include children in the tree. I have not contacted Tech Support but will when I am at a point of wanting to share my family tree. For those (like myself) who have never worked on our family heritage, this software is a good place to start. It works well with Windows 10 ... show more

Family Tree Heritage Gold 16
When this gift was given to my daughter for Christmas she could not use it as it came in a CD. Her laptop does not have a CD drive. I did communicate with the seller who sent an email with an activation code in order to download the software. Issue resolved and product is working
