  • very impressed, no complaints.
Style: Large (Boot Size: M 8-10/W 8.5-11)
I walked on ice a lot in winter. So I had tried many things (many ice cleats). The best I tried until last year was YakTrax. So I will compare this with Yak They are both very easy to take on/off. Yak is slightly tighter than the same size Extremus, but it is comparable. Yak using cables, work especially well on thin dark ice. Extremus using chain and "claw". From my past experience with ice cleats, the claw works well, too. The one that I like this one better is that most connection points are reinforced, as shown, the rubber connecting to the chain is much thicker. This gives me more confidence while using it and will definitely increase its longevity. This was my major complaint with Yak: the rubber is too thin. The chain is also double, stronger grabbing-power and much stronger. I think this is a great idea. Overall, I am very pleased. I cannot wait when the lake is frozen up and test it. ... show more

  • decent for the money
Style: Large (Boot Size: M 8-10/W 8.5-11)
This review is based on materials, construction and build quality. I haven't used these yet because we haven't gotten any ice or snow since I received them. I used to sell the MSR version of these when I worked at Eastern Mountain Sports. Compared to those ones I used to sell, these are a solid price for what you are getting. The MSR ones are normally around 50-60 bucks. The main difference that I can see is that these ones don't have every link welded. This could cause a link to break while using them. I don't know that will happen but, just listing out the difference between these 25 dollar ones and the 50 dollar ones. For the price, I think these will be prefect. FUN FACT - do not walk across wooden decks, finished floors or any surface you don't want scratched. The spikes on any product like this will leave marks....after all...they are designed to bite into ice... ... show more

  • Awesome cleats!!
Style: Large (Boot Size: M 8-10/W 8.5-11)
These ice cleats are awesome! For most of my life, I’ve been using cheap rubber ones that work, but not well. I decided to get these Extremus cleats and they blow the other ones out of the water. The chains lock firmly around my boots and the large spikes dig nicely into the ice. I don’t think I’m ever gonna slip on the ice again. 100% recommend! ... show more

  • Well built and easy to put on.
Style: X-Large (Boot Size: M 11-14/W 12+)
I have an older pair of Muck Arctic snow boots and the treads are pretty worn. These cleats fit perfectly and securely, are easy to put on and should give these boots excellent traction this winter. There are built with higher quality materials than other cleats I’ve seen. So I’m hoping to get multiple years of use from them. ... show more

  • Great product for great price!
Style: Large (Boot Size: M 8-10/W 8.5-11)
These are great cleats! The spikes are very big which makes for great trip on the ice I know I don't feel like falling. They also fit my boots well which is a huge plus because I have bought plenty of other cleats and they don't even fit my boots. Also the cleats are placed well for more surface coverage when walking. Bought previous cleats and could only walk certain ways. Overall very impressed!!!! ... show more

  • Very effective
Style: Large (Boot Size: M 8-10/W 8.5-11)
I took a hike up the local ski mountain after the season was over. There was a lot of snow remaining and also a lot of mud and torn up ground. I went up the double black diamond run so it was very steep. It was the first time I used devices like these and they really did the trick. No way I would have made it up without them. They gave me excellent traction. I then ran down the beginners trail and I was able to keep them on while running downhill. Once and a while, I could feel the metal pressing on the sole of my hiking boots, but not too bad and no damage to my boots despite about 2 miles of up and 3 miles of running down. I did the second peak to get to the 5 miles but a good workout that I could not do without these spikes. I look forward to doing many more normal trail hikes with these in the future. ... show more

  • Broke on the first use
Style: Large (Boot Size: M 8-10/W 8.5-11)
the product fit perfectly when following the guidelines. I bought a large for women's size 9 to fit over my snow shoes and hiking boots. However about 2-3 miles in to my first hike with them, the left spike cahine broke at the connection with the rubber and I had to rig a repair with a small carbine. another 2 miles and the right spike chain also broke at the connection with the rubber. Luckily had a second carbine I could salvage. they are fixable but only lasted a short time. I wanted something more durable. I used on slushy snow and mud going up a constant incline. ... show more
