Description

ANEMOMETER WITH IR TEMP, 80 TO 5900 FPM From the Manufacturer Built-in non-contact IR Thermometer measures remote surface temperatures to 500-Degrees F (260-Degrees C) with 8:1 distance to spot ratio and Laser Pointer. CFM/CMM Thermo-Anemometer can simultaneously display of Air Flow or Air Velocity plus Ambient Temperature. Easy to set Area dimensions (cm2) are stored in the meter's internal memory for the next power on. Additional features include: 20 point average for Air Flow and 3-percent velocity accuracy via low friction 2.83-InchD (72mm) ball bearing vane wheel on 3.9-Foot (120cm) cable. Comes complete with 9V battery, protective rubber holster, and case.

    • Not what I would call water resistant...

They say it floats and is water resistant, but after floating in an inch of water for maybe 2 minutes it no longer worked. The O-ring in the battery cover and whatever other intrusion measures it has just aren't enough. Water was visibly inside the unit and it took 2-3 days of laying in the sun for the moisture to come out. Luckily it worked again afterwards, but I'm certainly not pleased. As a sailor, what good is something that can't get a little wet? If you want to tell people your product is water resistant, it better d@#$ well be because you know they'll put it to the test and be sour if it fails. It's a decent unit otherwise, but I'm starting to think they're just overselling the "features." Might have to return this thing. ... show more

This anemometer is so easy to use. Did have to read instructions to set units, but no problems. Reliable and tough with accurate wind readings. The temps seem to be a little slow when removing from the vehicle and reactive to wind readings, hence the 4 stars.

We use this to collect ambient conditions for outdoor industrial painting. We like the case better than some of the other handheld meters because the case is hinged to the unit and you don't have to keep up with any removable covers. The case adequately protects the wind and humidity sensors.

We bought it because we needed one for our job, and this one is definitely useful! The wind speed can pick up almost anything, and the other readings seem to be pretty accurate. It's nice and compact for carrying around also. The biggest problem about it is that it takes a little time to get used to and remember how to change the settings on it. I bought this to balance the A/C ducts in my home. I was quite surprised at how bad the system was designed with small rooms receiving high CFM's and large rooms with very little. This tool does a nice job in calculating the CFM based on the measured duct opening. It reads the airspeed then uses the duct dimensions to display CFM. As a bonus the thing does IR temperature readings as well but my primary application was CFM measurement and this it does well. Easy to use with big bright display that is backlighted at the touch of a button. Great tool at a decent price compared to others on the market. Trying to balance our ducted ventilation system is impossible without some real indication of velocity. This unit is intelligently designed for use in the real world.
