The wadding ensures safe parachute deployment by preventing damage from ejection charges, helping your model rocket shoot for the stars and then safely come down to earth to prepare for a future launch. These sheets are necessary for most Estes rockets (unless the rocket features tumble recovery) and are not reusable after the rocket flies. To use this wadding, place several sheets between the rocket’s motor and the parachute to protect the parachute from the intense heat produced during ejection. Depending on your motor type, you may need a few to several sheets for each flight. Without wadding, plastic parachutes can melt or singe, affecting the rocket’s performance.
