Updating based on the excellent customer service received - an ESR rep reached out to offer a replacement and recommendations to try to minimize sun exposure when in use as this may have led to earlier breakdown on the glue. That made sense to me so moved the mount down a bit to see if that might help. So far so good - I’m also a bit more attentive to how I’m pulling the phone off the mount which seems to be helping as well 😊. I’ve had the new one on for a few weeks sand so far so good! I received this about a month ago as I had a fabulous case for my new iphone that I really love but it wasn't available in mag safe yet - just before upgrading phones I had purchased the ESR magsafe car mount/charger and was loving that as well so hoped this would let me continue to use both. It worked wonderfully, for about a month [and I don't drive often], however the magnetic attraction to the mount is SO strong that it seems that it slowly wore down the adhesive and earlier this week when I went to remove the phone from the mount it came off fine, but the magnet sticker was still attached to the mount - not the phone 😞. So moving on to the 2nd one that came in the case - even though I don't love the silver to see if it might last more than 1 month. Not crazy expensive, but if it will need to be replaced monthly, not really worth it in the long run... ... show more

⭐⭐⭐⭐ When I realized that the case I purchased wasn't MagSafe-compatible, I was a bit disappointed. However, rather than going through the hassle of returning it, I decided to give this product a try - and I'm so glad I did! Installing it was a breeze, and I was impressed by how well it worked with my non-MagSafe case. The magnet is strong and securely holds my wallet in place. I no longer have to worry about accidentally losing it while on the go. What I appreciate most is the peace of mind it provides.     • Good for what it is but a couple minor gripes

Seems to be one of the thinnest rings to add some magnetic charging capability - but to be clear, there is absolutely nothing magnetic about these rings. I'm not really sure it's obviously, explicitly, called out in the description, but I think that could have been more clear. It'll still do what I want but it was mildly surprising. And while I wasn't able to really use the installation guides because my phone isn't one of the supported models, I did still use one of them to visually align where I wanted the ring to install and then taped the alignment tool to the back of my phone. That let me still ensure the ring was straight and properly positioned (based on my guess of where the magnetic coil was. Beyond that, I'd much rather a 2 pack of the same color instead of one black and one silver. If I want to use the black one because it matches and eventually have to remove it and use the second one, well, now it doesn't match because the second one is silver. Dumb complaint, sure, but odd choice of two different colors. Also there is only one set of wet/dry wipes in the package. So you either need to install both right away in order to take advantage of them and properly prep the surface or just use them up the first time and have to come up with another good option later on if you need to install the second one. ... show more

I was disappointed in an OtterBox case I purchased because it didn’t have a magnet for MagSafe. I reluctantly purchased this ring hoping it would solve the problem, and it did! I was concerned that the ring would ruin the look and feel of the case, but it doesn’t. It’s thin and looks like it could have come with the case, and it doesn’t really affect the feel.     • Adhesive not working on my case

Either the glue is incompatible with my case, that being a Spigen Galaxy S22 Ultra Tough Armor with a polycarbonate back (not shown as incompatible material), or it's not strong enough to withstand the connection to ESR's own products (their wireless charging desk and car mounts). While everything holds up it's great! But I've gone through two of these kits now (because I wanted the black ring specifically, bah) trying to get it to stick for more than a week or so and no dice. That being said, I tried epoxy to stick the ring on and that didn't hold either, so I have to wonder about the material of my case in this case (haaah.). Anyway, I love this ecosystem of stuff, I just can't get the damn ring to stick. I'll keep messing around, but it's tough to suggest this exact ring so far. EDIT: brought down to one star. I've done something that would typically be considered highly destructive, a) to prove a point about this adhesive, and b) because I'm gonna paint part of this case anyway for funsies. I took a Dremel and roughed up the paint job on my case to see if it was the coating on it that was causing the ring to fall off (or rather, my phone to fall off the ring). So far, now, it feels stuck on much more solid. Prior to this, the phone would fall off this ring while attached to ESR's own accessories. The instructions plainly state that this ring is for smooth polycarbonate and TPU cases. This case back is smooth, apparently painted, polycarbonate. I'm bringing the rating down even further because, well, even if it's the paint on the case that's the problem, this ring is supposed to be the universal part, and is stated to adhere to the material, as much as I can know about it. I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt that I misread something, but my case is polycarbonate, and this says it works with polycarbonate. There was nothing to misunderstand. Just pony up for the 3M VHB stuff or something, and charge more for these rings. Again, I bought two of these sets and this is what I ended up with.
