The blade got super hot after running for a minute. It surprised me because it was a few degrees away from burning me. It only seemed to cut well without a guard. With the plastic guards it just seemed to push all of the hair around. Good for quick shaves and the price was super affordable.

    • What a surprise bargain!
I can not believe how good this trimmer is. After years of owning and replacing crappy over priced Phillips trimmers this thing feels like a miracle purchase. Honestly the carrying case, charging dock, and extra attachments are all just great bonuses. I would buy this trimmer again even without those extras but they are so appreciated. The trimmer itself is so we'll built that if I had to find a complaint the only thing I could mention is that the dial on the device itself isn't always so some to operate. Outside of that I have nothing to say other than man am I glad I don't have to buy those crappy Phillips trimmers ever again. ... show more

    • surface runs hot, so not good for close shaving
If you aren't looking for a close "cleaner looking" short stubble shave, this would work for you (use the guards). I found the variable speed option to be worthless - its fastest speed is slower than other shavers. I assume the other blade is ceramic??? All I know is the metal surface gets really hot against your skin... My facial hair curls and easily will go beneath the skin if I use a razor blade or normal shaving razor (I get bumps, pimples, etc.), and the areas around my beard I want to shave as close as I can without that happening. This is like shaving with a hot iron! Sent it back and will try another all metal blade unit to replace my last all metal blade one... ... show more
