This isn't a bad set for the price, but the one drawback is there's no cardboard backing. That makes the notebook flop around and unusable unless you keep in on your desk or on a clipboard. I regularly use Steno pads, and although they mostly stay on my desk for quick notes, I like being able to carry them with me to reference said notes. The lack of rigidity on this set makes carrying them around awkward at best. But if you intent to keep something rigid under them all the time, they're perfectly fine. ... show more

    • Sturdy little notebooks
These top-bound notebooks are sturdy and durable. I like the different plastic cover colors. The paper is of adequate thickness, nothing special. The words on the covers are unnecessary. I'm using these as grammar notebooks for my students and they'll be great for that purpose.

The covers of these notebooks aren't hard - they are so flexible I can literally roll up a pad into a tube. They are however a thick plastic sheet, which will protect the paper in a backpack or bag (better if you add a rubberband or bulldog clip). The paper is very nice - cream colored, not too thin, smooth but with a bit of a tooth to take ink or graphite. The covers and pages can be flipped all the way around on the binding. I have used the regular shorthand notebooks at my job and volunteer position to take minutes and other dictation for 40+ years, so I was excited to give these a try. As you can see in the pictures, they are a little smaller than a regular Gregg notebook. However, that is not an issue for me. What I love about these is that I can use a different color for different purposes, the plastic cover is waterproof, there is no line down the center, and the paper is noticeably smoother than the regular notebook. These notebooks actually have two more lines on the page than the regular ones. They have 60 sheets, whereas the regular ones have 80 sheets, but I love the feel of the paper so much that I can overlook that. The binding is actually a higher quality than my regular notebooks. What is strange, though, is that the manufacturer felt the need to put the color name in big letters on it, as well as the brand and what it is. Duh! I know it's a notebook! They could have imprinted the brand and other information in the inside of the cover instead. ... show more

These are well made spiral top notebooks (we used to call these steno notebooks) These are good quality. The spiral on top is the double type and it's sturdy and secure. The pages are good quality and feel slightly thicker than some and they turn nicely. The colors are really nice, too. These work great for my needs! Here are a couple of things to know - The pages are not serrated at the top, so if you want to pull them out of the notebook they will have edges. The covers are made of plastic which is nice but has a drawback. The backs of these are not super strong, so they can be a little difficult to use unless you're using them on a hard surface. Perhaps it's weird for me to be so excited about a notebook, but these are really nice. The paper is soft and easy to write on. Front and back covers are plastic which protects the paper inside and the medium size is perfect for when the itty-bitty notebooks are too small, but a full-sized pad is too much. My favorite part? I'm not sure what it is, but I really love the look and feel of these notebooks. I kinda like the top spiral as opposed to the traditional side spiral. Makes it easier to write all the way across without your hand bumping up against the spiral.

Attractive waterproof covers on these five inexpensive 8 1/2 x 6 inch notebooks. They're ruled with horizontal lines a bit over 1/4" apart, but without the pale vertical line usually found in top-bound steno pads. Both front and back of each page could be used with pencil or with traditional ball-point pens, but theres a fair amount of bleed-through with gel pens and with liquid-ink pens (not unusual in ruled notebooks) so only one side of the paper is usable for those.
