Format: HQ 140 gram LP red vinyl - LTD ED 1000 copies The initial reaction to the release of this album was unbelievably one of controversy. Irving Berlin was actually horrified that his "White Christmas" was being sullied by the 'vulgar kid with the gyrating pelvis,' and many others agreed. The year was 1957 and Elvis was still young (just 22) and dangerous, Jailhouse Rock had just hit the box offices and his "Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel" single was still at the top of the charts. But despite his status as the ultimate rebel, Elvis actually managed to deliver pretty convincing versions of these Christmas classics, so much so that although Irving Berlin may still be rolling over in his grave, the album itself has taken its place as one of the best known and loved Christmas albums of all time (and definitely a lot cooler than Bing Crosby).

I picked this up to add a little nostalgia to our holiday playlist, and it delivered exactly what I was hoping for. Elvis’ Christmas Album blends traditional carols with his signature style, and somehow it still feels fresh even after all these years. “Blue Christmas” is probably the most iconic track on the album, and it still gives that perfect mix of melancholy and charm. But there are also some underrated gems here … his take on “Santa Claus Is Back in Town” adds some welcome edge, and his version of “Silent Night” is surprisingly gentle. The production has that warm, vintage quality that works really well during the holidays. I played it while decorating the tree and again during dinner, and both times it just set the right mood. If you’re a fan of Elvis, or just want something a little different from the usual cookie-cutter holiday albums, this one’s a great pick. Pros: - Great mix of upbeat and mellow holiday songs - Classic Elvis vocals and vintage sound - Works for background music or focused listening Cons: - Not every track will be for everyone if you’re expecting traditional versions - Some reissues have different track listings, so check before you buy This one’s staying in my holiday rotation for sure. Classic Christmas Album never gets too old for me, my mom once had the 8 track to this back when I was a just been trying to find it on cd for years till I finall found it, not on cd though but fortunately on vinyl, good enough for me. Elvis has had many Christmas Albums but I speciif wanted this gem & now I found it, mission accomplished! Great Christmas songs for the holidays & for me all year around ️Yup really love this album. Best Christmas Record ever made, you'll en every minute of it including the sad tear jerker but beautiful Mama liked the roses. Take a listen you'll be glad you did although probably not available on cd but hopefully someday soon, get the vinyl you won't reg it ... show more

I am 71 years old and, of course, loved Elvis. I never had a lot of Elvis music and was so happy to see this CD with so many of his hits. I listen to it in the morning. My grandchildren are way too young to remember him, but enjoy his music too. I am so happy with this CD. We are going to purchase a record player so will but some vinyl next. Would highly recommend these CDs for any Elvis fan. ... show more
