So this is marketed for rocking chairs, but I will be honest, I am not using either part on a rocking chair. I have actually split up the set and use the back on my old recliner whose back cushions are significantly less supportive than they used to be, and the seat on my office chair that I got used at a steal because while it actually has nice back support, the seat has worn out. This single set has solved both of those problems! First, the fabric covers these come with definitely feel like outside chair fabric, that kind of stiff canvas type. Not the comfiest on skin, but not uncomfortable either. And not much of my skin touches it, only my legs if I’m wearing shorts. The nonslip backing on these cushions really lives up to its name. I’m a fidgety sort of person and the types of chairs I’m using these on don’t allow for the ties on the cushions to be used, but they really don’t shift no matter how much I do. The seat cushion is thick, and firm enough that it doesn’t just immediately compress down to nothing, and I am fairly heavy. I really like that the back of the seat cushion has the little slot cut out, as that really does take the pressure of my tailbone. I hadn’t realized how large a source of discomfort that was while sitting for long periods of time until it was gone. The only downside is that because the seat cushion is so thick, if your back support is good on your current chair, it may displace you above it. That wasn’t such a problem for my chair because the old seat cushion had compressed and wore out so much that adding this cushion only brought me a hair above where I was supposed to be sitting originally, so it worked out well. Of course, the back cushion will solve that issue if you use it with the seat cushion. I didn’t have high hopes for the back cushion, because it has kind of minimal contouring and at its thickest it’s only 2.5 to 3 inches thick, tapering to like 1 inch at the top. But I’m surprised how comfortable it is. It doesn’t fall into the trap of over contouring and becoming uncomfortable again. It’s made from the same foam as the seat cushion, so it provides plenty of support. I’m 5’5” and it goes up to the base of my neck, so it provides support and cushion pretty much the whole way up. The only thing is that you definitely need a big seat if you were going to use both of these together. That 2.5 inches at the bottom of the backrest really makes the seat feel shallower if it’s not big enough. And the seat cushion is 18 inches deep and 19 inches wide at its widest point (the end by your legs, it’s 17 inches at the end where your butt goes), which is a pretty good size. The back rest is 18 inches wide and a bit over 21 inches tall. I am blown away by how comfortable this set is, and I definitely recommend it, whether for a rocking chair or any other chair!

What am I reviewing? I am reviewing Elmara’s Rocking Chair Cushion Set. Comfortable? Absolutely. However, I must get used to the fact there is less room on the rocking chair, because of the cushions thick sizing. Any instructions? Not on the packaging [box]. There was “assembly instructions” on a small brochure, but I thought them confusing. They should have had a drawing. Molded cushions? Yes, one single piece, for the back and the seating area. Very supportive. Made of? The cushions, which insert into the covers, are foam. What that exactly is was not explained and I saw no tag. Covers? The covers are made of Olefin, a synthetic fiber on the top side, on the bottom is synthetic with dots, that help the back and top cushions from moving around. Sink to the bottom? No, I did not, very comfortable; even an NFL linebacker sized family member was surprised that they did not bottom out on either the back or the seating cushion. Each cushion recovered to their normal shape – which is contoured. Fit an oversized rocker? I have an oversized rocker that these cushions were used, and these cushions did “not” look small on the chair. Care? I can machine wash the covers, however, “not” the memory foam cushions. Aroma? Yes, the covers. I immediately washed them and most of the synthetic chemical aroma disappeared, for the most part. I am hoping that airing these out and future washed will eliminate the odor. I thought the memory foam had a synthetic aroma too, but it seemed to dissipate quickly. How did this arrive? In a retail like, heavy duty, colorful, cardboard package, which had wording surrounding their contents, however, no picture on that package of the product, whatsoever. How packaged? The covers were in a plastic like bag and the cushions were tightly sealed, with tape, in clear plastic bags too. Country of origin? Made in China. Value? These are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for, and I thought that the (38%) off the retail price provided and opportunity. I am glad I selected these. They make the rocker, which I love, that much more comfortable. Are these perfect? No, that aroma was a turn-off, and I do not like the idea the memory foam really has to avoid water, so no washing, but at least the covers can be washed – but not placed in the dryer. Significant criticisms? Other than the aroma, which is not that significant, because most was removed from the wash, I have no significant criticisms. Bonus? Yes, the ceramic coasters. Rating? Five (5) stars. I hope my thoughts provided additional information.

We ordered two of the Elmara Rocking Chair Cushion Sets; a beige one for my wife and a taupe one for me. They are both being used on outdoor rocking chairs. Installing the cover on the Memory Foam took about 10 minutes each and it was easy to do. The design of these items is well thought out and should work for almost any adult. The back of each piece has non-slip fabric and there are six separate ties, 4 on the back cushion and 2 on the seat. The ties are not quite as long as we would have liked, but are manageable. The top and bottom are nicely contoured and the 4 inch thick seat has a good balance between firm and comfortable. The quality of the foam and the covers is excellent and the covers fit exactly. We are very happy with both the appearance and functionality of the product. These sets are recommended for outdoor use as well as indoor, but the instructions say not to wash the foam and not to immerse in water so I would only recommend them for outdoor use in a covered area or if the cushions are to be taken inside when rain is expected.
