It was everything I wanted. It has a quarter/twenty screw hole on its BACK side so you can screw it on top of a pole and its blades will be flat to the flow of air out of ceiling vents. It is Bluetooth and you have a lot of options at your disposal. Kinda big compared to kestrels but this is more for HVAC work. Take time to read the manual to get an understanding. On the back of the paper manual there is a QR code for a digital manual that may be easier to read for you. Here's where the one star loss comes in. The app is basic and that may be good for some. However, there's a catch: do not scan the QR code on the manual because it will lead you to a Chinese app store and unless you can read Mandarin you not getting far. BUUUUUT, go on the Google Play store and download the Anemometer26 App by Chander. That is the American equivalent (same app really) that won't cause you to go through a bunch of security hurdles. Incredibly buggy app and accuracy is unfortunately not good. Also it is counter intuitive to use. I use other Elitech products that I am fine with it but this item is sold when quality is not even at beta phase. I wonder whether did they test it before bringing it to market and also I wonder why most of these 5 star reviews on this product are mostly coming from "Amazon Vine Program" - given the existence of these issues. ... show more

This meter is fairly easy to use and seems to be accurate enough for personal use. I don’t have a calibrated point of comparison to confirm its precision or accuracy, though. Unfortunately, the Anemometer26 app isn’t great. I had to look closely through the instructions to find its name, as it doesn’t come up with the other Elitech apps in the App Store. I’m not sure why Elitech couldn’t make this better compatible with one of those apps, which appear more polished. The app itself will correctly show and log data from the meter in real time. However, it’s a very basic app and has a couple spots where the headings aren’t translated into English. It also appears to lack any way, aside from screenshots, to export the data from the app. An option to get some kind of file, like a CSV, directly from the app would be a useful update. With that said, the build quality of the hardware is solid, and it feels like a $50 device. It includes a soft case, a lanyard, a 9v battery, and a micro USB to USB-A cable for transferring data to a computer. I have not tested the computer connection yet, but I’m hopeful that it makes up for the functionality missing from the app. I was tempted to knock off a star for the app quality since there are cheaper meters on Amazon, but it looks like a lot of those in the lowest price tier lack any kind of bluetooth capability, so I suppose the price is reasonable. ... show more

Well, installing the battery, turning it on and holding up in the wind for a reading is easy enough to achieve out of the box. But if you really want to gain the benefits of it’s full capabilities you’re going to have to break out the 10x power opti-visor or microscope to read the manual printed in tiny 1mm font. ... show more

This is a descent wind speed meter for $50. It is well made and seems to be fairly accurate. I haven't tried the app yet, just used it to test directly. I don't really need to record the data on my phone or anything like that. I ordered it to test airflow through computer fans and exhaust fans from data rooms. This does the job well and verifies that the airflow is sufficient for the equipment in the network rooms. It is simple to use, has many units and options, and makes my job easier because it gives me real numbers to communicate with the customer. ... show more

I have been meaning to review this one sooner but it arrived to late and I have finished fixing some HVAC by the time this one arrived. This came with a bag, 12v battery, landyard and a usb cable. It is mainly to measure wind speed but also came with temperature and relative humidity making it a perfect HVAC tool to measure speed of air coming out but I also use it to measure temperature of the air coming out. It is able to detect small air flow to a fast one. You can change the units including the air temperature to make sure you hold on to that manual. It has LED backlight that you can turn on and off and has an added light at the back especially useful on dark places or in the attic. It has a capability to connect to your PC or phone via USB or bluetooth but I have not tried any of these features but I can in the future use the bluetooth functionality, leave it somewhere and I can get the values without being physically there. These are great features that adds value to the item and not just a regular anemometer. ... show more
