Description

The EBS MicroBass 3 is a 2-channel preamp, built exclusively with premium components. It is engineered by EBS in Sweden with technologies from the famous HD360 and Fafner II amplifier designs.Professional grade signal levelThe preamp operates at a signal level equal to a professional mixing console which gives you plenty of headroom. The high signal level makes it suitable to use as a preamp in combination with any type of power amp.Clean and Drive in series or parallelRun the Clean and Drive channels in series or parallel. Use the dual balanced XLR-outputs to tap the signal post and pre EQ at the same time. If you run the Effects loop in stereo mode, the balanced outputs become a Left and Right output instead.Handles any type of bassWith 10 Mohms input impedance, it handles any type of bass passive, active, or with piezo pickups.Onboard Tuner CompressorThe built-in tuner makes it easy to tune between songs without the need of an external device. The MicroBass 3 also carries an onboard compressor, similar to the one found on several EBS amplifiers. The analog EBS MicroBass 3 ensures your sound every time.

  • EBS for the win
I started my search with a jhs clover (basic preamp and di)...I didn’t like it very much and figured it’s not really made for a bass. So I ordered a Aguilar tone hammer preamp pedal expecting to be blown away with sound quality and difference in tone...didn’t like it or feel like it added anything to my tone or sound (also the ags feature is useless) so I ordered an EBS Microbass 3 and never looked back. Finally a preamp that gives you the option of a true clean sound. Like squeaky clean. They thought of everything you would want for a bass preamp and they put it in this pedal...and a tuner This preamp is just stellar. From the time I plugged it in and started using it I’ve been very satisfied with the usefulness of certain features. As well as how simple it is to figure out. This thing is crystal clear and has too many features to list. It has a drive channel which is actually useful and sounds great, also having the blend and level knob for both channels is awesome. If you want clean, this thing is what you want. And if you want some dirt but still want your bass to sound like a bass it will do that as well. It also has compression which is very useful and easy to use. Even has a light to let you know when the compression is kicking in. Has a gain light to let you know if you are overloading the input. I would buy this again and again, I would recommend to at least try it if you’re looking at something in this price range. ... show more

  • Just get it.
This replaced my very aged SansAmp bass driver DI. Amazing how bass preamp technology has changed over the last 20+ years. The EBS is a must have for any bass player that is serious about their tone. I've been playing bass for 45 years. This EBS is an essential must have or upgrade. I went back and recorded bass tracks on a few songs and can't believe how for the better the sound was. I've done very little adjusting on the EBS and the results have been no less than stellar. On my active bass I defeated it's internal pre-amp. On my passive fretless all of the fundamentals are there. There are a lot of DI's out there. I haven't tried them all, but this one works for me. ... show more

  • EBS quality
If you are looking for more midrange control, precise control of the frequencies that matter, than this is a must have. Personally Im not much of a "distortion" guy, but when used minimally, can add the right amount of unique character to the second channel while still having a completely different midrange set-up. Well worth the money. ... show more

  • MASTER = NOISY
Loud BUZZ is all I have to say. Not acceptable. Too late to return.

  • Listen to Zw!
I hope I am allowed to post this, as I admittedly did not buy MicroBass 3 from Amazon, instead buying used from a good friend who did, while knowing nothing about the unit, but I am a good Prime customer so maybe they will. I'll keep this simple. Read the review "EBS for the win" by user Zw. Then read it again. I have little to add except that in my 45 years of gigging (granted mostly in original bands in dive bars and some nice clubs in NYC and Northern NJ), the MicroBass 3 might be my single favorite piece of bass gear, ever. It definitely has the most useful 1-knob compressor that has ever graced the face of an amp or preamp which sounds better than many multi-knob compressor pedals I have tried/used. All of the character and tone switches make it flexible as all get-out, and if you balk at the price, keep in mind that you're getting a 2-channel preamp with a DI, a dirt pedal (or channel), a tuner and a compressor, and it takes up the space of 2 standard sized pedals and requires only one 9V power source. I run mine into the effects return of various amps bypassing the amp's built-in preamp and it makes each sound far better than the amp stock. They really hit the ball out of the park with this unit and I am considering buying a second as a backup. As for the guy who gave it 1-star for a noisy master volume, he probably got a bad unit or bad power supply. It happens. Mine is dead silent. Note for those who may care of such things, it was designed in Sweden but built in China. I can't say enough good things about this preamp. For me, it has been a truly remarkable gift from the audio heavens. It does squeaky clean, it does dirty, it does both simultaneously a la Doug Pinnick and it does many other sounds in-between. Bravo to EBS. Now I wish someone would release a reliable 800W Class-D power amp with user-replaceable PS and ICE modules. I'm not holding my breath for that though, ... show more
