  • Really nice sounding soprano
Color: Curved-Blue
No brainer for the money sounds excellent feels solid the pads had a professional snap to them. I have played $7,900 Selmer Paris jubilee soprano and this horn sounds at least 50% as good. Do the math. Only question is how long will it last? I noticed a couple screws were almost out when I got it but screwed them back in no problem. Check it carefully before you play to make sure there's nothing like that happening. One BIG issue no tech will work on this horn so you take your chances I'd give it 2 years possibly more if you are very careful to not drop or bang it and check the adjustment screws regularly. For a student it’s a dream horn and the case is so clever the backpack straps are hidden behind a Velcro flap ready in seconds. I got the blue/turquoise one really gorgeous color it looks more like a big name pro horn. Pearl touches (plastic) are scooped and very comfortable. This one is a winner. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Color: Straight-Gold
I'm happy with this purchase. The sax arrived intact and undamaged. All of the keys work properly, and I'm able to get a good tone from low to high notes. It’s worth noting that I also purchased a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and Rico 2.5 reeds to go with it, as I’ve heard that the mouthpiece and reed are often weak points on inexpensive horns. Although I’m new to the saxophone, I’m not new to wind instruments and I was ready for a challenge. I wasn’t expecting much at this price point, but the way it sounds, feels, and looks exceeded my expectations. Even the case is surprisingly nice. For the value that this represents, and not having to spend thousands for a horn to learn on, I give this soprano sax a 5 out of 5. Although how well it holds up over time remains to be seen, this ticket to sax-town was worth the price of admission. ... show more

  • Experienced saxophone player...horn DOES NOT PLAY out of the box. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS
Color: Straight-Dark Blue
The horn was purchased in October as a Christmas gift, so the return window was already past when my husband opened it in December. He has over 40 years experience playing saxophone, and has 2 alto saxophones, a tenor sax, and another soprano. There were at least 3 notes that WOULD NOT PLAY straight out of the packaging. Since the return window had closed a month before Christmas, my husband took the brand new horn to the local music repair store for their saxophone specialist to repair it, and spent $106 to be told that no parts or services were avaiable for the instrument. PLEASE...NOBODY WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY, AS NO SERVICE IS AVAILABLE FOR WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH YOUR INSTRUMENT. ... show more

  • Easy to learn once again
Color: Straight-Gold
The instrument is great. I played this in High Sckool. Loved it then as I do now. I thought it would be hard to relearn but found it was a bicycle, easy to learn

  • Woodwind Doubler Here,
EDIT: Ive now played this horn for multiple shows, and can say that it was worth the money in the short run, but little things have broken on it each show. A lot of the solder points have broken/come loose, especially the neck receiver. It plays about 20 cent flat, with multiple different mouthpieces, reeds, both necks and multiple players trying it out. You can lip it up but I’m biting a hole through my lip if I’m not using some kind of buffer. It’s still *playable* but I’m in the market for an intermediate, branded soprano sax. I’ve been contracted with a theatre company, and the last 3 shows have had massive soprano sax parts so I bite the bullet and bought this instead of just playing it on clarinet. Here are some of my initial thoughts: 1. Right out the gate it was playable, but the lower register warbles occasionally (think it’s a minor leak with the octave mechanism) and the adjustment screws are super glued?! into place. 1 and 1 Bflat is a hot mess and I ended up added cork to the arm instead of moving the adjustment screw because of whatever glue they used on all the screws. 2. Playing through the music with a tuner (using the mouthpiece it came with and a Vandoren green JAVA reed) I was surprised at how in tune the horn is with itself. I’m working for it and listening, but it’s not terrible in this aspect. Facing seems a little far away from reed, for my liking, so I’m going to invest into a better mouthpiece and see if that sweetens this deal. 3. Pads don’t look great, they’ve got a dusty look to them, makes me think they older or the skin might crack on them. This makes me nervous, I spent 2 years working as a repair technician, and I know my mentor won’t work on these horns, and even if he did and I needed a repad it probably wouldn’t be worth it (costs about the same as the horn itself) Some keys and tone holes aren’t centered, and both necks were extremely resistant to being put into the horn (fixed that with some steel wool though). Overall, if you need something ASAP and know how to play, you can make this horn work. However, you are paying for what you’re playing. It’s fun to play, and the accessories that come with was a nice little bonus. Be ready to use that ear and make some adjustments. ... show more

  • One of my favorite horns.
Figure that you will have to take it to a repairman for some final adjustment. This can be true with a new Selmer as well, so no big deal there. With over 60 years of playing, I have always liked black nickel on a sax. Throw away the mouthpiece and reeds that come with it because life is too short. I use a Yamaha 5C with a Legere #3 European Cut clarinet reed and it is just great. Aftermarket necks can be had for under $35.00 a pair [straight and curved] and can well be worth a little experimentation. I also have and Eastrock curved soprano in lacquered brass which is lovely as well. ... show more
