I bought this to "practice." I also bought a wooden one to play for church in a recorder duo. I played clarinet growing up, so how hard could it be to learn this? As long as you stay between Middle C and High C, it's easy to learn. It does not play anything below Middle C. My recorder partner and I had to improvise when playing hymns with notes below Middle C. But playing notes above High C, well, it can, but trying to learn the fingering of those notes...... as well as getting the right pitch..... This is good for practice. Decent sound. Wooden ones sound better.

The colors were bright and the kids loved them!! They were just happy to get sounds out of them...2 and 4 year olds..their mother is showing them that by putting their fingers over certain holes they get a different sound... Keep it simple...intro to musical instruments.
