Worked ok for maybe a month. Just enough time for return window to close and the more you use it the worse it gets and fast. Now I have to look for someone to work on it and living in a small town with nothing here makes it a little hard. Just in time for the start of school band class for my son. item was used- case was open and items were loose, teeth marks on the mouth piece..... unable to use. Eastar reached out and apologized for the condition of clarinet received. Not sure what happened but processing of my order and someone else's return coincided. I promptly received a replacement clarinet and can clearly see that this one is brand new and ready to be played. I played clarinet years ago in high school and wanted to start playing again. I decided to get a cheap, beginner clarinet. I have had this clarinet about a week now. Out of the box, all parts were present and intact- there is some tarnish already on a few spots, but nothing that effects the playing ability. It came with everything listed; however I did not realize until it arrived that cork grease does not come with it! An instrument that has been sitting in a warehouse for a while with corks drying out definitely needs the corks greased before first assembly. I made do with some lip balm and immediately ordered the grease (lip balm is not recommended-use only as a last resort!). Another oddity is that even though this is listed as a beginner clarinet, it comes with three 2.5 reeds. Beginners should start with a softer reed. Plus, one of the reeds was already attached to the mouthpiece, resulting in it being warped and unusable. It does play well and has a decent sound. If you need a starter clarinet, I recommend this one- just make sure to order cork grease along with it. ... show more

I was quite a good clarinetist in my youth, but my good clarinet is long gone and I had the urge to play again after several decades. The price of this one persuaded me to take a chance on it, and I'm very glad I did. It's no Buffet, but it is pretty well made and sounds far better than I expected it to. I would definitely recommend it for a beginner. With heavy use I feel sure the pads and corks will need to be replaced fairly quickly, but all things considered it is very playable and certainly worth the money for a beginner or casual player. ... show more

We couldn't figure out what was going on with this when we first got it. The notes were not hitting correct and we thought it was the horn itself. Turns out, we were partially correct. The mouthpiece and/or ligature has a manufacturing defect causing the reed to be a tiny bit separated from the mouthpiece itself. When I pulled the mouthpiece and ligature and put on a new one it worked flawlessly. The body is nice and solidly balanced. If the mouthpiece would have been manufactured properly this would be a 5 star all the way. ... show more
