Note - it's still a nice device for the price, but I'm lowering my review to 3 stars because it seems extremely fragile. If you see my included image, neither my daughter nor I have any idea how the LCD screen, protected by plastic, no longer works. My guess is it was put in my daughter's pocket and flexed a bit, because when I twist the ends slightly I can see the warped image change a lot. So just please be careful with yours and be aware it may be prone to flex or easy breakage. -- Really great little pocket gaming system with an overwhelming amount of built-in games. Hard to not be satisfied for this price, with the portable play on a nice-size, bright screen, plus TV output (comes with an RGB video cable and also has an HD output). The games have tons of your favorites, like Pac Man, Space Invaders, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, Contra, and then other games like bowling, fishing, chess, and racing. It even has Gauntlet and Joust and some other longer-form classics, however for few of the games the instructions are in another language OR there don't seem to be mappings that work for the controller buttons. I will say, the notable exclusions from the system are Frogger, Spyhunter, and Q-Bert, none are on here and I would have loved to have seen them. But still none of the minor quirks could take this away from being a five star device for the price for both me and my young daughter.

I bought this for an 8 year old. I wasn't ready to invest in the more expensive name brand gaming models due to his age, so I wanted to see how responsible he could be with it. The number of games on it keeps him happy. I have had the navigation button pop off fairly easily, but otherwise it has been a hit with my son. I haven't tried hooking it up to a tv since it was mostly to be used in the car, etc. as a distraction device.

My kids love them so far (they're 6 and 9). This is their first portable gaming system so they don't have anything to compare it to. After about 4 uses the battery life seems typical (a couple of hours worth of play) but I haven't really timed it. I just have them put it on the charger when they're done so they're ready to go when they want to play again. Considering the price, I am happy with the purchase. One negative is the whole back panel comes off in order to replace batteries. If I could choose, the battery compartment would have a smaller opening instead of risking breaking the whole panel. Not a big deal if your careful, but worth noting.

I gave this to my grandson for Christmas and it brought a smile to his face. He's only 8 so all the games were new to him. He had the thing turned on just a going with it before I could begin to read how to do anything with it. It was a big hit and it gives him something to do even in the car so he isn't always bothering his older sister.

Remember when childhood used to be childhood? No internet, no violent videogames, just sit and enjoy. If these are your priorities (they are mine) then this is a good product. Yes, some games are repeated and many, many are not exactly like the original version. I'm old enough to know that. Also the joystick could be improved. And the sounds are annoying, like in a Chinese baby's game. But you can lower the volume. Beware that if you want to connect it to a TV you might need to buy an adaptor for the super old switch the game comes with.
