Update: If you need to use the solar panel for charging, it does NOT plug into the camera properly. After a lot of fussing just to get the rubber seal that surrounds the charging port in place, it pops right back out . I even taped it once I got it in place and within 15 minutes it had pushed the tape loose and popped back out. Plus, you actually have to break off the attached rubber cover for the charging port in order to attach the solar panel with rubber cover. The connection for the solar panel is very poorly engineered. My personal opinion on the solar panel itself, is that it is not strong enough to do you much good anyway. Either skip the excessive cost of the camera with the solar panel and purchase just the camera, or be prepared to devise a way to keep it connected knowing you are going to have to bring it inside to charge it anyway. I'd advise just buying the camera, and if you want a solar panel, diy one. I've used this camera for nearly a year. I recently gave it to someone who needed a camera asap, thinking I would just replace it. I am so disappointed that it is now out of stock, I hope they come back soon. I have tried several other brands in the last few weeks and have returned them all as they do not function like this one. This camera has a very good PIR detection, the range could be a bit wider but I am satisfied with it. It does detect what it needs to, just not as far out as I'd like. The picture is great in both day and night mode. No complaints at all on picture quality. The wifi is a bit weak, I actually had to install a wifi extender just for this camera. I say it's weak as I have a few A-RLO cameras at two and three times the distance as the Dzees camera that have no problem connecting to my router. Still, not a deal breaker. (As a side note, I don't recommend the A-RLO, they're more trouble than they're worth, even though their wifi is better) The battery life is great on this camera. I had to charge it about every 3 weeks, but it was placed right next to my door with a lot of activity, recording as many as 100+ events per day. In a place with much lower activity, you'd likely get 2-3 months between chargings. The VicoHome app is good and easy to use, much more user friendly than the CloudEdge app that so many cameras use, including many of the Zumimall cameras which I believe is also the manufacturer of this Dzees camera. The biggest complaint I have about this camera is the recording time. It only records in 20 second clips whereas many of my other cameras can be changed to record up to 2 minutes. Fortunately though, this one will begin recording again almost instantly if motion is still being detected where a lot of motion activated cameras have a lag time between recordings. If my A-RLO camera is set to record for 2 minutes, it will then be unable to record again for 1- 2 more minutes while it uploads the recording to the cloud. So while it is inconvenient to have 8 or 10 twenty second recordings compared to 1 two minute recording, in reality you are seeing more of the activity if the motion lasts a while. The built in magnet is extremely strong. While I did not use the included mounting base, I just attached it to a metal surface, this thing never budged, even in heavy storms with lots of wind and rain. The 2 way speaker worked great with very clear reception on both ends. Do keep in mind that you'll need two people to test this function as there will be interference causing a very loud screeching sound if your phone with the app is close to the camera. This is only an issue when you are using the microphone. Obviously you will not need to use the microphone if you are that close to the camera, just a heads up that you can't test it that way, lol. Over all, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they extended the ir light range, motion detection range and definitely wifi range. It is best used close to the home/router. I do see that there is currently another camera available that appears to be this camera except it is bundled with a solar panel. I can't justify the cost of that one as I have no need or want for the solar panel. I hope this one comes back in stock soon.... so very tired of trying other cameras that don't stand up to their claims. While there are lemons in every bunch, I can't promise you'll get a great camera, but I do believe that the majority of them are really good and are worth trying out. ... show more

I bought these to use in my motorhome while we travel. Because they have the magnetic back, I don't have to really rely on the supplied mounts. I bought 3. I use one on the back of the rig that just "sticks" itself to the tow hitch, another goes on the drive side step and the last gets attached to either the metal clasp for the door or on the awning. I have also found enough range that I can attach to other places as well, like sometimes the power pedestal. I did not want to pay for cloud, so the attached storage works perfect for me. I am very satisfied with the purchase. I was even contacted by support to ensure that I registered my product to receive the proper warranty, thank you Kaia! ... show more

This camera works great and can take short video clips of recordings with an optional micro SD card. Or you can also subscribe to dzees cloud service. Camera has very good quality picture both for day and night time. The solar works great. If at all possible do purchase this camera set with the solar accessory; as we had also purchased same model without the solar and the battery runs out within two weeks or less. Very good overall.

I bought these cameras to go on the sides of my house. I originally installed them high enough that they looked OK and would not be easy for someone to remove; however, I ended up lowering them to what the instructions say is optimal, about 5-7'. The quality of video was not good and I got more false positives at the higher level. I do NOT like the way they look now being positioned about halfway up the side of my house, but I am now happy with the quality of the videos. Day vision is perfect. Night vision is good on the sides where I have a porch or driveway light and the color is nice to have at night, also. On the side where I have no light, however, I do not find the camera very useful. Even adjusting the white light setting makes the area barely visible, so I have now ordered some solar motion detection lights to add to that side with the hope that they will solve my problem. So, the things that I like about these are: very easy to install and add cameras to the DZEE app on my phone, once fully charged the solar panels have plenty of power, color night vision is great, I like being able to view the live cam when my dog barks as it gives me peace of mind, reasonable price. What I don't like: the 5-7' positioning needed for the best functionality, the fact that I need to add more light for them to be useful at night, false positives. I am still in the process of playing with settings, so I may be able to improve the false positives to some extent. I have had to change the motion detection to low on all cameras to avoid them being triggered by the movement of trees. In my driveway I am able to tell it which vehicles are known; however, the camera constantly tells me that my vehicles are going are coming when they are, in fact, parked in my carport. Before I adjusted my motion detection settings, I was also getting alerts of a person being detected only to find out the camera was seeing a tree stump or some other inanimate object. All in all, I am happy with these cameras given the affordability and the fact that they work on solar and I did not have to have an electrician wire anything. One last thing to be aware of is that, while you can add an SD card and not have to pay for cloud service, you will lose the ability to use certain features. The cloud service is reasonable and, in the event someone should remove your camera, you will still have video saved to the cloud. ... show more
