"Done Right" is a good name for this product. After digging through all the other plastic toy-like pool basketball hoop options out there, this one rose to the top of our list. We didn't want out pool area to look cluttered or junky, but I wanted to play water basketball with my kids. It was a tough decision because this hoop is 3-5 times the price of anything else. I had trouble justifying spending that much money just to shoot hoops in my pool... then my wife commented "How much is keeping the pool area looking nice worth?" We have a 24' round pool half in-ground, half above ground with a stunning countryside view beyond it. As I often find myself saying, she was right. Fast forward a year and we have no regrets. The light blue rim and backboard square coordinate with our pool liner and the stainless pole is clean and professional looking. You hardly know it's there until it's time to play. You definitely want to plan on pouring the brass mount into a large chunk of concrete. The first time, we tried sharing a 12" sono tube with a fence post and it quickly cracked, even without dunking or hanging on the rim. Now it's in a 24x30" pad that's 12" thick and poured around the old 12" sono tube for the fence post. It's plenty sturdy now, but I still don't dunk on it because I don't want to kink the stainless post... That's probably the bulk of the price right there! You can loosen a bolt and remove the hoop for the winter, but it weathered our Wisconsin winter just fine where it is. Proper material choice (brass, stainless, acrylic) keep the whole assembly rust-free and clean-looking. This hoop has turned our run-of-the-mill flat-bottomed, round pool into a mini-wet-gym without sacrificing the view. While it's expensive, it's for good reason because the design and execution of this product was "Done Right." ... show more

I've owned this product for about 3 summers now in hot hot elpaso with vary strong winds and crazy storms! Never had a issue. I am back on here looking for a new net because we wore it out lol! The ball is crap. But you can buy a new ball anywhere! With the sun all the basketballs will deteriorate over time. But the hoop and pole still looks amazing! I have to tighten the lock bolt every now and again but that's to be expected. We don't hold on to the rim but we play vary hard pool basket ball. I have a salt water pool and the salt hasn't affected the pole and or the hoop. If I buy another house with a pool this is defiantly going to be installed again! ... show more

This is a pretty nice system. It goes in the ground so you'll need to drill through your concrete about 4 inches or so. Other than that, the installation is easy. Looks very nice. The rim diameter isn't regulation, it's a kids size or junior size. That means that a regular sized basketball doesn't fit in it, only a junior size does. The ball that comes with the system is crap...didn't seem to go in the hole very often:)...I assure you it wasn't the shooter..I went out and bought a new junior size ball from big 5...looked pretty much the same size but the material it was made out of was much better. The ball now goes in to the basket a lot more and it bounces off the rim nicer. Plus the ball that came with it, leaked so it never stayed full of air...i trashed it. I'd recommend the system...a bit expensive but it will probably last a long time since everything is either aluminum, brass or acrylic. The rim is covered in a vinyl coating to keep it from rusting...so far so good. ... show more

    • Sturdy, clear, but ball deflates as others say - just an okay ball anyway.
We installed this last week and it's great so far. We put the insert in a 5-gallon bucket of concrete, and dug a hole in limestone earth and cemented it all together. Also connected ground wire to existing gunite/decking wires. As others have said the blue ball deflates - hilarious, but my 19 month old loves it. Love it because it's high quality hoop for playing, and at the same time it looks real nice. Actually the pool looks nicer because it looks like it was custom made for the pool. Only thing is diameter of pole is a little more narrow than what pool companies usually use for a basketball sleeve but there are many ways to correct that. ... show more

i was hesitant to purchase this as it seemed the ones with 2 posts would be sturdier. This one is very sturdy. Stood up to 75 mph winds. Kids love it. Love the clear backboard too.
