  • Super lightweight and bright
I used to DJ small events, like family reunions and small weddings, and have a lightbar similar to this, but with the par cans that hold a single flood light, and a single colored gel inserted. This means that my old lights are limited to one color. I hardly DJ anymore, but wanted to "update" my stuff, even if it's just to light up my living room while blasting dance music with the kids. I decided on this light bar. It came in a HUGE box, that ended up being the "box in a box", so the actual product is not huge. I got two boxes - a tripod to set it on, and the light bar unit, that contained 4 lights attached to a bar, a separate power cord, and a corded foot pedal. I've only had it set up in my living room (and not a dance hall), so while I can't give a first hand account of it effectiveness in a hall, I can tell you these lights are SUPER BRIGHT! Much brighter than any flood light I've used in the older setup. Pros: Relatively inexpensive. Lightweight. I mean, REALLY lightweight. You can't appreciate this comment unless you have had to lug around the older styled par car light system. But trust me, you'll love how light weight this set up is. The controller has preprogrammed modes you can set it on, as well as a sensitivity dial so you can get it to respond to the music. You can use preprogrammed, or sensitivity, OR connect it to a DMX device. I've never used a DMX controller, but the hook up is there is you want it. The pedal has 2 pedals - one for cycling through programs, and the other for fading all the lights off at once. The fade pedal is a little sluggish, and I've had to step on it a couple of times to get the lights to turn off. You know how at the end of Let's Go Crazy by Prince how it all rises and crescendos, and then a huge BAM at the end? If you want the lights cut at that VERY PRECISE MOMENT, either I need practice or you'll be disappointed. Maybe this is where a DMX device would be better than a pedal. As mentioned above, the lights are BRIGHT and blinding up close. They also change colors!!! One light, multiple colors! No more limitations to the gel color. Blue light on the left - no wait...oh snap, now it red! Just kidding - but it is nice that each of the 4 lights (THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!!) changes colors. Oh, and because the lights are led, they are nowhere near as hot as the older flood light bar was. AND, the tripod and light bar setup each comes with a travel bag (wasn't expecting that). Cons: I've only used this in my living room, so I'm not sure how it will project when I get it in a gym or a dance hall. The tripod is thin and lightweight, but this could be an advantage in transporting. It's also doesn't have a heavy load to bear, so it doesn't have to be as sturdy as the older one. I did notice that the tripod didn't seem to extend quite as high as my older one. And about the leds - no clue if they can be replaced. My older one, if the light stopped, you bought a new flood light. Not sure how long these leds will last, or how to replace/repair. Overall: For about $200, we are going to rock out our living room with this lightbar! If I ever DJ again, this is definitely coming along. Bright, lightweight, affordable, and professional looking. Party on, Wayne! Party on, Garth! ... show more

  • Good for price.
Remember the price. Cause its always get what you pay for and life is compromise. Designers to compete have to give strenths and weekenesses. I have a venue and our in house thester dance show is about to tour clubs bars and small venues. I habe about 20,000 in lighting instaled. Each mover is 1200. My leds from chana are 200 each. This light bar for us it what we are lookkng for. Cheap and very light. I just need to get a year out of it. The good. Price. Very very light and small. It has kinda bright lights. For the price very briggt just not what i am personalaly use to. I got one going to get a couple more. This is a lot like the chauvet tri LT but cheaper. It may be and off brand. But inuse chauvet show express and it used the same 15 channel profile. I use dmx. Im a snob. Id never use pre done programs. Wedding djs should do the same. Have some respect on the marrage. Use dmx and dont blink the slow songs people! :) So the compromise would be things like. Only three color leds. However the colors blend well. So three is more. They say million on leds but really its like six or seven pain then red can turn to pink etc. the white is great for the price same with like magenta. They tellow is teally yellow. The stand is about 6.5ish feet. Its thin and small. But it works. But make sure it works for your needs. I didnt want the the stand. I wanted three groups of four lights i could rig with power wireless clips etc. and slap on and off the light. And pack in an RV. There will be bands that will use two to liggt them selvs up in front snd be happy. But im a snob i would not be. It would be darkish. So hers what im doing snd you can copy as ive dont this a long time. Get the cheap 350 dollar truss sytem. Im getting six chrap 24 led pix strips. And three of these and trying to decied what to do in front. All in is less than 2000. Rig it with dmx. Ive learned the lea types of lights you have is easier. The dmx patches will alow you to. Acess 12 clever chase programs. Make them brighter. Speed them up slow it down. Change colors of the four lights indavidually ussing RGB and a master strobe and dimmer. So if your like. I dont want to have them all stobe at the same time. Just create it in DMX or use the pre created chases. I can tell you always buy quality movers. But you can save money buying off brand LEDs. ... show more
