The Dr. Martens Elphie Ii shoes are a twist on a classic. Less dainty, more Dr. Martens. These heeled ballet shoes are made from soft Virginia leather that's fitted with wraparound laces that can easily be swapped out for a customized look. These leather shoes are made of a leather insole and lining. The tapered PVC outsole is marked with DM's signature grooving pattern and secured with yellow welt stitching while the Goodyear welted construction makes them a durable footwear choice. Pointed toe shape. Block heels.

I thought these shoes would look weird, and maybe a little too young for me. NOPE! Wow, what a great style. And better yet, they're surprisingly comfortable (after a bit of wear, that is). The classic, soft Dr. Martens footbed is my favorite footbed of all time. The leather on the black pair is soft and flexible, as is the "fur" on the printed pair (see pic 3). The ONLY thing that interrupts the comfort is the narrowing at the widest part of the shoe (I'm a medium width). But a bit of wear stretches it out just enough it becomes soft fast. I wore these all day, right out of the box, with no socks. Zero complaints about comfort after the very short, initial break-in of the toe. The laces are a waxed cotton and soften up almost immediately, so no discomfort there. Oh, size DOWN if you are a whole size. I am a size 8, and got a 7. I think if you are a size 8.5, the 8 would be fine. But most of all, it's the STYLE I love. I got the black pair first--and the next day, I went back and found a seller with the leopard available. Completely and totally in love with these shoes. The leather is buttery soft, the shape of the shoe is super flattering, and they aren't heavy like many pairs of Docs I've owned in the past. I bought the shoes for my elderly mother, who was hoping to receive something soft, but, stable. The shoes, however, were so incredibly hard she couldn’t get them on her feet. I think these were specifically designed to be decorative and not comfortable at all.

the pink ones are adorable but they are very stiff out of the box. be prepared for a painful break in period, especially if you have wide feet like i do. i personally found the laces to be too short. they also make a pretty loud squeaking noise whenever i walk on certain surfaces. despite these criticisms, i recommend the shoe. i imagine the black ones would be more comfortable since they appear to be a softer leather. ... show more
