These water shoes offered a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde experience during my recent crab snaring trip. While they certainly excel in some key areas, a significant design flaw prevents them from being a true five-star contender. Let's start with the positives. My primary goal was a shoe that could seamlessly transition across varied terrains—ocean, sand, rocks, and pavement—and in this regard, these shoes absolutely delivered. They handled each environment with impressive grip and comfort, allowing me to move with confidence. A standout feature I genuinely appreciated was the drainage system in the sole. The strategically placed holes allowed water to escape quickly and efficiently, preventing that sloshy, waterlogged feeling often associated with water shoes. However, those very same drainage holes are also the shoe's Achilles' heel. While fantastic for shedding water, they're equally adept at trapping small, pointy rocks. More than once, I found myself wincing as a sharp pebble worked its way through a drainage hole and into my foot, a truly uncomfortable and distracting sensation. Another important note for potential buyers: these shoes run large, by at least a full size. Be sure to adjust your order accordingly to avoid disappointment. I bought bamboo socks to help avoid blisters because I would be wearing them for hours at a time (but not in sand, which may be worth mentioning) Of course I forgot to bring the socks and ended up wearing just the shoes and it was no problem.
