The media could not be loaded. This part is a bit tricky to install but once you get it, it works great. I installed it in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe. I highly recommend this part to anyone who’s having problems with air only coming out of the defrost vents. It fixed my problem.

    • This is for the mode door, meaning which vent the air comes from
So far great replacement part. If the HVAC system in your truck is only blowing from one vent (defrost?) It's a good bet you need one of these. I unfortunately went on a goose chase trying to figure out why I only got defrost after changing the actuator and control module, only to find out that the local parts store sold me the hot/cold actuator instead, which looks the same, but will not work for mode. This thing is a PITA to install because 3 or 4 things have to line up at the same time before you can bolt it down, but once it's in, it works like it should. Best part is, this cost about a quarter of what the wrong part cost... Not that I wouldn't have paid the higher price to have it fixed right away like it should have been... Grrrr... ... show more

    • Fixed my 2001 Chevy 3500 Climate Control
My climate control was stuck on the upper vents only. I received this replacement, takes a bit to get the old one out and remove it, but, oncee I got new one installed and hooked it up, it worked perfect. It does take about 60 seconds to "learn" when you first start the truck after installing it, and you may have to turn the knob to the full range a couple of times. Also a good idea to apply some grease to where the gears mesh for smoother operation. ... show more

    • The cam's shaft is super tight in the actuator which could be a problem
Several installation videos online tell you to remove the large cam from the actuator assembly so that the cam can be positioned on the various cam followers in the vehicle before installing the motorized actuator. I tested removing the old cam from the old actuator and it was easy to slide it out. The new cam was so tightly pressed into the new actuator that I broke the cam trying to remove it and I WAS careful. Luckily I still had the old cam which I used with the new motorized actuator and all works perfectly. ... show more

Worked like a charm.. be ready to twist, turn and get frustrated on this install tho. lol. Located under the driver side dash almost behind the heater control module. Also remember there are two of these on your Chevy. The other is located under the passenger side dash. Easier to get to. This one does not have the plastic guard it’s just the unit. The plastic guard just pops right off. But both units are the same just make sure all the pig tale pins all match. On my Chevy these units were pretty much the same. I did have to get one from the auto parts store but the pins were not the same. So I did find one running around a bit but to save you the head ache keep it in mind.. great buy worked as it should wish I would have bought two right away.. ... show more

    • Not a BLEND door but is a MODE door actuator!
Incorrectly listed as Blend door when in actuality it is a mode door actuator (The blend door actuator controls the temperature and is usually found under the passenger glove box. The mode door actuator controls where the air is directed, windscreen/face/feet etc. and is usually found under the driver side steering wheel on the right). Both mode/blend door actuators look very similar apart from the mode door actuator having a big piece of plastic attached to it and I think the internal motor is wired opposite to each other. I did not realise this and tried and managed to remove the plastic part and install as a blend door actuator and my temperature control was backwards (It was hot when set to cold and vice versa). From doing some research I found that the big piece of plastic isn’t meant to be removed and is part of the mode door installation. ... show more

Perfect replacement part. The Dorman brand is fabulous for do-it-yourselfers. The brand has been consistently reliable. There are many online videos to show you how to replace car parts. It saves a ton of money on car repairs to be able to buy the replacement parts and DIY. After replacing the part in the car this Dorman worked perfectly. I tried a couple of the less expensive ones from other sellers, but they were garbage. The Dorman Blend Door Actuator was the only one that worked as it should.
