This is the thickest, chunkiest pizza sauce ever. I was watching a youtube pizza making video and they highly suggested using this product if you're not making homemade sauce. I am so glad I did because it was really delicious. Lots of tomatoey flavor. I think the price was too much but wasn't sure if I would find any because I have never seen or heard of this brand. I will be looking in every store from now on, to see if I can find cheaper than $5 a can.

Retail pizza sauce has always been a disappointment for us, relying on overpowering Italian spices like Oregano and Basil in very wrong proportions. Recently, we had pizza at a small restaurant and the sauce was the star flavor of their pie. I asked the waiter if it was homemade and he said no, the crust was but not the sauce. He went to the kitchen to look at the brand and it was Don Pepino. Amazon to the rescue - we ordered some to try. Sure enough, the sauce is that same excellent flavor we had at the restaurant. I will tell you our days of making homemade pizza sauce are over. It's Don Pepino all the way. I highly recommend you try this on your next pizza; you won't regret it.

Rao’s pizza sauce is my go to but after seeing the reviews here of Don P’s I figured I’d give it a try and it’s delicious! It has a nice fresh flavor. Oddly it appears this has more salt per serving than Rao’s but from a flavor standpoint I taste much less salt in this than in Rao’s. For the record I use fresh mozz on my pie versus the standard brick of mozzarella (Polly-O, etc) bc I prefer the flavor of the fresh and it has much less salt in it as well. I’ll definitely repurchase this sauce again.
