This is a very well made attractive leather dog collar and it IS real leather. You can tell real leather from the fake pu leather, (that is polyurethane leather), by using your fingernail to lightly scratch on the surface of the leather. Real leather will become lighter where your fingernail scratches. Fake leather will not leave any Mark at all. With the real leather you can smooth out the fingernail mark very easily once you have verified that it's real. :-) This looks great on my Belgian Malinois that I got it for and the fit is true to size, although she was right between the medium and large size and I think I probably would have been better off with the medium since there's a lot of extra collar with the large.

Overall: Recommended! Really impressed by the look and the quality of this leather collar with studs. I thought it might look too intense but it has an elegant kind of look too. The studs are subtle so it is not the same as a spike collar. The fit worked great for our dog and it seems very durable. Cheers

The collar is leather, well put together and looks great on my Doberman BUT the "studs" on the collar appear to be plastic. Yikes! If they are plastic my Doberman will wreck the gold plated plastic "studs" rolling around outside quickly. If they are not plastic they sure sound and feel like it judging by the finger nail tap and scratch test. I guess it would be fine as a show collar.

This is the third all-leather collar I've gotten from this maker-- it is the smallest model they offer, and is just as high in quality, comfort, and style as the other two. I was so impressed with the others that I absolutely needed to get this one as well (and let my smallest large-breed dog know that she deserves to look her best). Simply put, there aren't many collars on the market that match this in quality or style, and there are ZERO which come close in this price range and value. This is hands down THE best value. I will note, when compared to the maker's other two (larger) collar models, this one stands apart as being the only one without metal eyelets: the sized and evenly spaced holes (for custom fit on your dog's neck) are punched, and solid, but not done in metal grommets as on the larger collars. This should not impact the life of the product at all (it is built like an heirloom quality handmade belt!), but it bears mention as it sets it apart from the other two. There's simply nothing else out there that compares. My dog loves it, and it holds up to roughhouse play with the rest of the pack.

Noticed some scratches on the leather from our dog scratching himself. Not a super huge deal, it still looks nice, just figured I'd mention it. Otherwise, it's sturdy and feels nice. The gold buttons are pretty and shiny.
